Building on 65 Years: CCH Welcomes Three Outstanding Leaders to Its Board

Christian Church Homes is excited to welcome Claire Parisa, Rev. Marilyn S. Fiddmont, and Tiffany Crain to our Board of Directors. Each brings an accomplished career and a commitment to expanding opportunity for others. Together, they further strengthen a remarkably strong Board as CCH expands its reach and deepens its mission.

As we celebrate 65 years of service, CCH has much to build on: the recent completion of Piper Way in Redding and Hayward Senior Commons, two more communities underway in Chico and Memphis, and a robust development pipeline. Our new directors bring financial knowledge, development expertise, and legal acumen that will help carry this work forward

“Claire, Marilyn, and Tiffany are joining CCH at an exciting time,” said Cynthia Alvarez, President and CEO. “Each has accomplished important work in her own field, and we are fortunate to have them bring that experience to our mission. Their leadership will strengthen our ability to finance and develop new homes, preserve our existing communities, and pursue growth with the care our residents deserve.”

Board Chair, Leslie Taylor expressed, “We already have a remarkably strong and dedicated Board, and these appointments make it stronger. Claire, Marilyn and Tiffany bring achievement, sound judgment and a commitment to service that will enrich our work together. As we celebrate CCH’s 65 years, we are delighted to welcome them into shaping its future.”

Affordable homes build stronger communities. 🏠

Across California, seniors continue to struggle with staying in the communities where they’ve contributed so much due to the steep costs of housing. Proposition 1 would authorize $11.25 billion in bonds for affordable housing programs, including multifamily rental housing, supportive housing, homeownership assistance, veterans housing and preservation.

CCH supports YES on Proposition 1 because investing in affordable housing directly aligns with our mission and helps provide the resources needed to create and preserve affordable homes throughout California.

📢 CCH 2026 California Ballot Recommendations

At Christian Church Homes (CCH), we take positions on ballot measures only when they have a significant impact on affordable housing, older adults, and the communities we serve.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE IN THIS NOVEMBER'S ELECTION!

For the November 2026 California ballot:

✅ SUPPORT Proposition 1 because it invests in affordable housing preservation and development.

❌ OPPOSE Propositions 39 and 43 because they could create barriers to civic participation and make it more difficult for communities to fund housing and essential local services.

These recommendations are grounded in our mission to develop and manage quality affordable housing and build thriving communities where older adults and families can flourish.

🎉We closed out Affordable Housing Month with the Grand Opening of Hayward Senior Commons, a new 80-unit affordable housing community in Alameda County.

Hayward Senior Commons provides homes for individuals aged 55 and older earning between 30% and 60% of the Area Median Income. It is thoughtfully designed and built with features that support sustainability, community, and allows residents to age in place.

Developed on former BART land, residents will enjoy a range of amenities that promote connection and well-being, including an inviting landscaped outdoor patio and additional patio for resident-led gardening.

“This community demonstrates that, with the right partnerships and disciplined ex*****on, we can deliver high-quality affordable housing efficiently,” said Cynthia Alvarez, President and CEO of CCH. “Leasing was completed in less than one month, underscoring both the urgent need for this type of housing and the importance of bringing these developments to life quickly across California.”

At the celebration, we heard from elected leaders, partners, and residents. The most powerful words came from resident Roberta Tracy, who shared:

“To finally reclaim a sense of affordable independence in this beautiful, brand-new facility is a gift I don’t take for granted,” said resident Roberta Tracy. “Moving here isn’t just about having a roof over my head—it’s about starting a new chapter where I can focus on what brings me joy.”

We’re also grateful to the community leaders and partners who helped mark this occasion, including, Elisa Márquez, George Syrop, Elizabeth V***a representing Dr. Aisha Wahab, as well as the residents who shared their personal stories.

We are deeply grateful to the many organizations who helped make Hayward Senior Commons possible, including Wells Fargo, Freddie Mac, the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, and the California Department of Housing & Community Development through its Accelerator and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) programs. Thank you, as well, to SmithGroup Architects and Cahill Contractors, for helping bring this vision to life.

Most of all, welcome home to the residents of Hayward Senior Commons!
