Today, we delivered a letter to Levi Strauss & Co. demanding they halt the targeted firings and retaliation against union garment workers at Delta Staff Company in Durango, Mexico. With Levi’s headquarters in our backyard, we showed up to support our union siblings across borders.

It’s not easy walking the line every day at 6am, but Lodge 1414 Machinists at Morgan Advanced Materials are union strong! These workers have decades of experience producing precision ceramics machinery and walk the line to protect job security and union representation. On day two of their open-ended strike, we say: One day longer, one day stronger!

How should the labor movement approach the rapid advance of artificial intelligence? This Tuesday, we convened worker leaders from across the East Bay to answer this question. Co-hosts Contra Costa Labor Council UC Berkeley Labor Center and EBASE led discussions on the role of AI and tech in collective bargaining, local policy, and day to day lives. Each year, Coors Boycott Commemoration Committee and teamstersjc7 commemorate the historic coalition between LGBTQ groups in San Francisco and Teamsters workers. This act of solidarity began in 1973, when Brewery Workers Local 366 fought back against racist management at Coors and asked gay bars in the Castro District to stop carrying the beer. LGBTQ leaders stepped up and got Coors out of the Castro- a boycott that continues to this day. The 70s solidarity between consumers and striking workers forced Coors to concede and facilitate union organizing. Q***r and labor solidarity is as essential today as it was then!

Today is Election Day and your vote matters.

Early returns in Alameda County account for less than 15% of registered voters. That means this election will be decided by the people who show up today.

Don’t let corporate interests drown out the voices and needs of working people. Vote the entire ballot, including local candidates and local measures that directly impact our communities, workplaces, and public services.

Labor votes. And when working people vote together, we win for all working families.

Make a plan, cast your ballot, and remind your friends, family, and coworkers to do the same.

At a time of increasing attacks on working people, it’s important that we organize in every arena available to us, including at the ballot box. Voting is one of many tools we have to defend and improve the conditions of working people.
