About the Exhibition

There will be over $10,000 in Awards including:

$2,000 PWCS Award for Best in Show
$1,500 Elizabeth Shober Hooper Award for Excellence in Presentation & Technique
$1,000 PWCS Founders Award

Eligible media include watercolor, soft pastels, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, pen & ink, gouache, acrylic, and hand-pulled prints. All work must be original and on paper. Works also need to have been completed in the last three years. Download the prospectus for information on eligible work, submissions guidelines and other details for this exhibition.

Eleven Art Warriors came to paint en PleinAir today at the Barnes Arboretum .

It was a balmy 86 degrees at 9:30 am and went up to 93 which felt like 98.

The grounds are beautiful!

It was a beautiful day!
Painting with members of the PWCS at the Kuerner Farm in Chadds Ford, PA, on Friday, May 15. Kuerner Farm was the setting for some of Andrew Wyeth’s iconic works.
It was great to have artists from the Greater Philadelphia area, Washington DC, Lancaster, and New York, come out for a day of painting!

Yesterday the staff at the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Print and Pictures Collection was very kind to lay out a display of historical works on paper for the PWCS group to tour.

Some of the pieces were by Augustus Kollner, Frank Taylor, John Sargeant, Winslow Homer, a neat collection of sketches by Violet Oakley, Beatrix Potter, and Others.

Take a look here at some of the pictures and make sure to visit the Free Library of Philadelphia if you’d like to see their current rare books collection.
