Fall is upon us and the MN DNR has been busy stocking our lakes with over 25,000 Muskies! The MN stocking program has seen some significant improvements the past few years thanks to the dedicated efforts of many people. While this is great news, we need your help!
Twin Cities Muskies, Inc. has committed $75,000 to purchase as many Muskies as possible to help support the DNR's stocking efforts. This commitment will drastically reduce our stocking fund. Each fingerling costs ~$17 and each yearling costs ~$25. The bottom line – it's expensive to stock Muskies.
This is how you can help! The drawing for our annual raffle is on December 5th. This is a significant fundraiser where the proceeds go towards purchasing Muskies. If we don't replenish our stocking account we will not be able to purchase Muskies to stock in future years. Anyone who has fished Minnetonka and other local lakes the past couple years, has noticed a significant increase in catching 24"-35" Muskies. This is a direct result from years of working with the DNR to improve stocking efforts. Now that Muskie stocking has some momentum we need to capitalize and maximize the opportunity.
Each raffle ticket essentially represents stocking one Muskie. We need everyone to pitch in and do a small part to help raise money. Buying raffle tickets isn't about winning a prize as much as it is about continuing to replenish smaller Muskies so you can keep catching fish. The prize is just a bonus! Keep in mind, there are only a handful of lakes in the state where Muskies will naturally reproduce, your future fishing depends on stocking.
