QUANTUM - LEAPS: TOTALLY - CHANGING - THE - SYSTEM💥

You know, it's funny.... whenever I heard someone refer to something as a "quantum leap," I automatically thoughts of a "GIANT" leap.... a decision, or a transition that was SO very far and much bigger than whatever was. "It was a quantum leap for him to quit that job and accept that other position," or "this is no big deal, we're not making quantum leaps here."

"Quantum" is such a "big" word intellectually that it makes sense why we might make that assumption (or maybe it was just me....). The reality is, a quantum leap - essentially an electron "jumping" from one particle to another" is so very very very small, nearly invisible. Despite its microscopic movement, this activity is so incredibly powerful that it causes GIANT, BIG, SYSTEM-CHANGING things to happen. And the most peculiar thing: these electrons seemingly appear out of nowhere and only show up when they interact with something else.

Be Still Sunday is giving space to reflect on this quantum theory concept as it relates to our lives and our spirituality this week. You won't get a physics lesson from me, I'm not qualified nearly enough - but we will offer space to contemplate the unknowns and bring the idea of quantum leaps into how we respond to occurrences that pop up out of nowhere and change our lives, even if it's for a short time or a season (back to school chaos anyone?!)

Bring your curiosity, your anxiety filled brains, your hope, and your "you-ness" to Be Still on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. to the backyard at in Wales for some coffee, calm, and communion. We can rest together in the wonders of the universe. ✌⚛

EINSTEIN'S - GENERAL - THEORY - OF - RELATIVITY is not an easy concept to understand for anyone not engaged with the "physics" industry.

BUT - at Be Still Sunday, we're going to try to simplify it so that we can understand our relationship to the Creator of it all just a little more and perhaps give SPACE (pun intended) to appreciate the limitations we have as humans - a little humility does a person good sometimes.

If you're curious about how we gather at Be Still, if you're a physics or space "nerd" and want to think about how your faith may or may not be impacted by that world, if you're looking for a small group of people seeking to pause and contemplate the world around them, we encourage you to come on over to Mama D's Coffee in Wales at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday in the back yard. Let's ponder this stuff together - no need to feel lonely or left out of these fascinating conversations.

LILY - PADS - OF - LIFE.... AND - FAITH. 🪷

Very rarely have I come across anyone who was raised in one faith and has a) not doubted it, b) not explored other religions, c) not "left the church" for some period of time, d) switched religions, and/or e) given up on faith and church altogether.

Some time ago, I read a quote from Anne Lamott that just tugged on my heartstrings. It gave me permission to explore, to be okay with where I came from, where I was at, and comfortable with needing to venture out into new things if I needed. It still has the same effect today and I wonder if it might for some of you too. Anne writes:

“My coming to faith did not start with a leap, but rather a series of staggers from what seemed like one safe place to another. Like lily pads, round and green, these places summoned and then helped me up while I grew. Each prepared me for the next leaf on which I would land, and in this way, I moved across the swamp of doubt and fear.”

I can share that some of my lily pads were churches, some were significantly timed interactions with other people, and some were mystical and "dreamlike" experiences that solidified my belief in a Savior that gives me peace and hope. I'd love to hear about YOUR lily pads on your faith journey and/or in your life at Be Still Sunday this week.

Bring your stories, I'll bring the lily pads - let's create a beautiful pond of community together. 🪷

Meet us downstairs in the Pink Room at 9:00 a.m. at in Wales. EVERYONE is invited and welcome at this table.

WHAT - IS - REAL? - AND - ON - WHAT - DO - WE - BASE - OUR - IDEA - OF - IT?

This week at Be Still Sunday, we're looking at a few verses from the book of Matthew in the Bible (Chapter 18, verses 2-4 to be exact). Jesus says we must "become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven."

In our world and culture today, it's easy to be told things, to see things over and over again so that we collectively agree that whatever it is, is real. Children in this country are typically told about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. What actually makes them real? The evidence of their existence or the simple, yet consistent sharing of the St. Nick stories and easter basket, egg hiding rabbit?

Children don't need the evidential proof of either of those characters to believe they're real.... until they do.

The reflections and conversation at Be Still always make us wonder, are driven by curiosity, and continue to bring on more questions than answers. While we generally seek to settle with some "take home" from our gathering, it's different for each person because the Spirit speaks to us all in different ways..... and that's why we love this space.

Join us for Be Still Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the backyard at in Wales. Really excited to have one of our "Regulars," Jake, leading this week as he shares some cool things about ancient coins and the Shroud of Tourin to help us get into the Be Still space.

HEARING - A - LOT - OF - BABBLING - LATELY?

Join us at Be Still Sunday to relax for a bit and talk about where the origin of babbling came from!

ALL the way back in the book of Genesis (chapter 11 to be exact), we hear about why human languages got all confused in the first place. We'll talk about what we heard from the story, what questions come up for us from the story, and what our Creator Spirit might be saying to us for our times today...

If you're interested in a little bible study, a little reflection, and a little babbling about it all, come visit with us on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. in the backyard at Mama D's Coffee in Wales. You don't have to know the story - we're going to share it there! You don't have to believe in the story to get something out of it. We encourage curiosity and wondering over certainty always. Maybe we're speakin' your language with this spirituality stuff.... come check it out and feel free to reach out to Tracy with questions ([email protected] or Message ).

BRING - YOUR - CONCERNS - TO - THE - STREAM....

Let them go in the water. Feel them wash away...

I *wish* we could actually be by a stream this week, to step in and actual enact this practice (maybe someday....) but instead, we'll use the power of stillness and meditation to imagine this practice of letting our concerns go, helping us feel a little lighter because we know we can't hold on to everything that's not our's to hold. Sometimes we just gotta "let go and let God."

Join us on Sunday for a guided meditation practice (no perfection needed or required!) that is sure to relax, feel a little calmer, and a little less tense - even for a little while. The beautiful thing is this practice can be done anywhere at anytime (well, except when you're driving - please keep your eyes on the road!).

Let's turn the back yard at in Wales at 9:00 a.m. into a sanctuary where we can let go and let God into our hearts. If you've been seeking some stillness, a judgement-free, curious, reflection type space to focus on your faith journey, this is your invitation to try out Be Still. 💌

Be Still was all about ENERGY today... And what gives us energy? PROTEIN BITES! After a year of talking about it, we finally made it happen - Be Still's first ever Protein Bite Fest!

Thanks to Jenny Smith Skwierawski and Jeff for hosting us, Joyce Ann for bringing some tools, and the "Regulars" who helped create the yummy treats and clean up the sticky mess!
