Last week was a blur, but WOW, did we have fun! 👻🧡 Our kiddos spent the week soaking up all the Halloween excitement with plenty of spooky (and silly!) activities. 🎃🕸️ We crawled our way through spider webs, got creative with spooky sponge painting, whipped up some witches’ brew science experiments, and danced our hearts out at our very own Monster Mash dance parties! 🧙‍♀️🧪🕷️

We also had our School Agers join us for a couple of days, which meant even more friends and adventures! During a scavenger hunt through town, they came across a pretty cool sight at the fire department! 🚒 We love getting out into our community and discovering what's right around us!

Our Bible story of the week was The Armor of God! 🛡️With Halloween costumes, superheroes, and all things spooky in the air, it was the perfect opportunity to talk about a different kind of armor! We learned that God gives us special armor to help us stand strong, be brave, make good choices, and protect our hearts. From the helmet of salvation to the shield of faith, we were reminded that we don't need a superhero costume to be strong - God equips us with everything we need! 💪❤️ (Ephesians 6:10–18)

October may be over, but the memories (and probably a little glitter and Halloween confetti!) will stick around! What a fun month with our CKC family! 🧡

Yesterday, we held our annual center-wide Trick-or-Treat, and our kiddos had the best time visiting every classroom for treats! From the classrooms to the office and even Miss Aubrey in the kitchen, there were surprises around every corner! 🍬🍎

Was it a little bit of chaos? YES! 😂 Was it a whole lot of FUN? ABSOLUTELY! ❤️

A HUGE thank-you to our amazing PTO team for setting up a bonus treat stop for the kids! And another big THANK YOU to all of our parents who donated treats to help make this day possible. We appreciate your support and generosity so much! 🥰 From applesauce pouches and pretzels to Rice Krispies and fruit snacks, everyone went home with quite the goodie bag! We love finding fun ways to make special memories with our CKC family! 💛

As you head out to enjoy Halloween festivities in our surrounding communities this weekend, we hope everyone has a FUN and SAFE time! A few friendly reminders for our little trick-or-treaters:

🎃 Stick close to your parents or trusted grown-ups.
🚗 Watch for cars and always look both ways.
🍭 Parents, remember to check those candy stashes before the treats are enjoyed!

And parents… don't forget to collect your Parent Tax! 😉😂

LITTLE BAKERS IN THE MAKING! 💛

Our Baby Room, Ones Room, and Two’s Room friends got to pretend to be little bakers this week! 🥣🧁 We read 'Stir, Crack, Whisk, Bake' by America’s Test Kitchen and Maddie Frost, then brought the story to life with our very own pretend bakery! 📚✨

Our little bakers in the making got to practice their baking skills using a play bakery set with bowls, whisks, and spoons, a play mixer, and even eggs that Velcro apart! 👩‍🍳🥚 Our friends had so much fun pretending to mix, stir, and bake up something delicious! 😋

Activities like these encourage early literacy, fine motor development, imaginative play, and curiosity about food and cooking—all while having fun! 💛

🌾 A special shout-out to Wisconsin Early Childhood Association for sharing this Farm to ECE toolkit with us! We’re so thankful for resources that help us bring hands-on cooking and baking experiences into our classrooms and give our littlest learners opportunities to explore where food and fun come together! ❤️

⚾🌕🎃 WORLD SERIES WEEK, FULL MOON WEEK, AND HALLOWEEN WEEK?! 🎃🌕⚾

Things are getting a little WILD at CKC this week… and we think the kids might be turning green! 💚😂 Between the World Series excitement, a full moon, and Halloween around the corner, we’re having a howling good time! 🐺👻

We’re making memories, getting messy, and soaking up all the silly fall fun! 💚🖍️ Because at CKC, a little colorful chaos just means we’re doing childhood right! 🥰

Last week, our little learners became fire safety experts! ❤️‍🔥 We practiced what to do in case of a fire with a fun obstacle course — cue the STOP, DROP, AND ROLL! 🛑🙌 We also learned the importance of staying low and crawling under smoke, explored and mixed warm 'fire' colors like red, orange, and yellow 🎨🔥, and talked about the important items we should have in a first aid kit! 🩹

Our Bible story this week was Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, reminding us that God is with us even in the middle of the fire and that we can trust Him through difficult situations. 🙏❤️

🚨 The highlight of our week was a visit from the Johnson Creek Fire Department! 🚒👨‍🚒 Our kiddos loved getting an up-close look at the fire truck and learning about all the cool tools firefighters use to help keep our community safe!

A HUGE thank-you to the Johnson Creek Fire & EMS Department for taking the time to visit CKC, share your knowledge, and make fire safety fun for our kiddos! We are so thankful for the brave men and women who serve and protect our community! ❤️💛

🎃🎶🎄 Don’t mind us over here listening to Christmas music during spooky season… 👻➡️🎅

That’s right - Christmas Concert preparation has officially begun at CKC! 🎄✨

There’s always something special about hearing those jingle bells, practicing festive songs, and learning dance moves together as a class! 🔔💃🕺 It's pretty sweet watching our little learners come together, encourage one another, and become a team along the way. ❤️

We’re already making merry memories at CKC, and we can’t wait to share the joy of the season with our CKC families! 🎶💜

This nationwide celebration shines a light on the important role afterschool programs play in giving kids a place to learn, explore, create, and have fun after the school day ends.

🐮💜 MEET MEG, OUR ADOPTED CALF! 💜🐮

It’s official! We are SO excited to introduce Meg, our CKC Adopt-a-Cow calf for the year! 🎉🐄

Each year, CKC participates in Discover Dairy’s Adopt-a-Cow Program, giving our kiddos a fun, hands-on way to learn about dairy farming and where our food comes from! 🥛🌾 Throughout the year, we’ll receive updates on Meg as she grows, learn how her farmer cares for her, and discover more about life on a dairy farm. 👩‍🌾❤️

📍 Did you know Meg lives just 11 miles away from CKC?! She calls McFarlandale Dairy in Watertown home. And here’s a fun connection—our adopted calf from last year, Tropicana, lives at McFarlandale Dairy, too! 🐮💛

Our kiddos have already had fun learning all about Meg, and we can’t wait to follow her journey and see how much she grows throughout the year! 🥰
