From the MBF Family đź–¤
With a heavy heart we mourn our brother..

Jay Rich was more than a friend.
More than a brother.
He was part of the foundation of who we are.

Real loyalty. Real history. Real love.

And when it came to this work

He didn’t just show up… he stood on his word, always!

He spoke with purpose.
He led with heart.
He made sure people felt seen, heard, and understood.

That’s something you can’t teach.
That’s who he was.

We don’t just mourn him
we will continue to carry him.

In every conversation.
Every young man we reach.
Every space we create for healing.

Your name is stamped in this work forever.

Rest in Power, Jay Rich. 🕊️
Long Live You.

When young women can see it, they can become it!!!

Mixed Behavior Foundation is proud to support the young women of Ladies First participating in the HBCU Field Trip to Atlanta, where they will tour campuses across the Atlanta University Center and experience the legacy of some of the most influential HBCUs in the country.

For many of these young women, this will be their first time stepping onto an HBCU campus — walking the same grounds where generations of Black leaders, scholars, artists, and innovators began their journeys.

Experiences like this expand horizons and remind our youth that their future belongs in rooms built for greatness.

If you would like to help support these young women on this experience:

Meet our TAY Program Coordinator who is also stepping into leadership at our SHIFT Women’s House.

Anankha Pereira.

Her support, consistency, and commitment to this work help keep our programs moving and our residents grounded. Mixed Behavior Foundation is stronger because of her.

One year ago, It started with the wind.
A sound we didn’t know would turn into loss.

At 3 a.m., my little brother was forced to evacuate—standing helpless as one of our family homes burned to the ground. My mother walked the streets of Altadena during the fire, in disbelief, watching the same town that raised her disappear in real time. My heart broke for her. For my family. For our community.

So we did what Altadena does…we showed up.

With boots on the ground, Mixed Behavior Foundation, alongside my cousin and so many others, dropped everything to give back, to hold people up, to lead with love. This was deeply personal as we lost three family homes in the fire, but service became our way through the grief.

Thank you to everyone who stood with us.

This is Altadena.
This is family.
This is love.

They cannot break us. Altadena is not for sale. We will continue to rebuild..together. 🤍🔥

THANK YOU, OAKLAND.
Because of the support of our community partners Uncle Ron, Owner of Spirit of Excellence, and volunteers, we were able to feed 176 people at Humble Giving 2025 — just shy of our 200-plate goal. Every single one mattered.

This year was special. We had the joy of including our baby girl , who — with help from her big sisters — baked 100 cookies for Humble Giving.

Humble Giving started with our older kids, and now the tradition has passed down to the babies. Seeing our children serve with us reminds us why this work matters and who we’re building this for.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, poured in, donated, served, and helped us bring a Thanksgiving meal to our community.
We appreciate you, Oakland. Always.

Dear Oakland,

— from our family to yours, let’s celebrate Thanksgiving together.

For five years, Humble Giving has been our way of pouring back into the communities that shaped our lives — the Bay and Los Angeles. What started as service has grown into a family tradition rooted in love, consistency, and purpose.

This year, we’re honored to partner with Spirit of Excellence, our incredible Oakland community partners, and traveling in from L.A. to help us spread holiday love from the Bay to L.A.

We’re showing up with hot meals, haircuts, hygiene kits, resources, and real support — the way our community deserves.

🗓️ Saturday, Nov 22 • 11–3PM • Spirit of Excellence
Pull up. Bring the kids. Bring positive energy. Bring the honor and love of celebrating peacefully among one another.

With Love,
