A great week for dogs and cats!

In the past week, we helped 19 pets get spayed and neutered — 15 dogs and 4 cats!

Unwanted litters prevented, pets health improved & a positive impact in the community. Just one of the ways we help community pets. 🐾🐾

Two very sick pups need emergency vet visits this weekend. So very expensive, but critical for the pups to get life-saving vet care.

Last night German shepherd Simba had a seizure and was vomiting blood, and the family needed some help from us. We have known Simba for quite a few years and he is a very much-loved pup. Thankfully, he’s feeling a bit better today and will continue improving.

This morning Luna’s family reached out. Luna is only 8 months old and she was just spayed with our help 6 days ago. She has been vomiting blood and had bloody diarrhea, not eating for a few days. She urgently needed vet care. Thankfully she does not have parvo and after spending over 5 hrs at the ER and receiving treatment she is going home. Prayers & good wishes for sweet puppy Luna.

The families are so very grateful for our help for their beloved pups. Thank you monthly donors, for all your support allowing us to help.

Thank you to everyone that donated to our October fundraiser. We raised $2,250. All to help our community dogs with food, straw, and other critical supplies.

We were so thrilled to see Jackie’s area looking so clean during an unexpected visit yesterday.

Her skin looked great, her bucket had water and was pretty clean. So much better than one month ago when we met her.

Our being in the community, meeting with families, educating, and helping does make a tremendous impact to improve the dog’s life.

We will continue visiting, and bringing supplies to make sure Jackie and all the dogs we help, stay comfortable & in a better way than when we originally met them.

Helping Honey and Sugar: a healthier future for both. 🐾

Both girls were strays taken in and cared for by a loving family, but the cost of spaying was out of reach. Multiple pregnancies and 19 puppies later, Dogs Deserve Better - Piedmont NC stepped in to help!

We helped both girls get spayed and vaccinated, giving them a much healthier future.

And for Sugar, this was critical as she had multiple mammary tumors. They were also removed and this was likely life-saving for her.

Two girls helped, healthier futures for them, and NO MORE PUPPIES HERE!

Today is all about saying THANK YOU to so many wonderful people who made Friday a day of helping lots of dogs!

It actually started a couple of days before Friday, when Todd Rogers donated 8 fantastic pallets to elevate the plastic dog houses off the ground, helping to keep the pups warmer during the upcoming cold. Steve Welch picking them up and driving them & loading them onto the trailer for delivery on Friday. Susan Decker, who donated a carful of dog food, much-needed puppy food, and canned food for the lucky pups we visited.

And finally the hardworking team on Friday – Emily, Karen, Suzanne, and Lucy who spent the day making a difference in so many lives. They not only delivered supplies, unchained Rocco, helped Marble, Coco and her precious babies, but they also fixed Joe and Missy’s kennel tops. And they took down Buddy's kennel and moved it to his new home.

Every one of these volunteers helped make life better for these deserving pups.

It truly takes a village, and we are so grateful for everyone.

🐾 Rocco’s Story 🐾

About a year ago, we untethered Rocco, but sadly, a couple of weeks ago, we found him back on the heavy chain. 💔 He kept escaping his kennel to be with his daughter, Marble, and young pup Coco who were in a separate kennel.

Yesterday, we unchained Rocco again… added some new panels, reinforced his kennel bottom, and set up a spot for Marble right beside him. Even though she never got pregnant, this time the family agreed, she will be spayed. YAY!!!!

And once Coco’s puppies are adopted and she’s spayed, we plan to create a large, secure fenced area where this sweet family can enjoy life together.

Rocco, Marble, and Coco are all so gentle and loving. They deserve to feel safe, be comfortable, and enjoy life without heavy chains or unnecessary separation. We’re doing our best to give them the future they deserve…., and sometimes it means taking things one step at a time.

Sweet Coco is a mom.

Sadly, like so very many dogs in the area, Coco’s puppies were born outdoors in the dirt, just yesterday.

And so heartbreaking, some did not make it. Coco now has 5 beautiful babies and she’s a good young mom, still a baby herself.

We are so grateful that Emily had a little pool and along with Karen set up a great area for this little family. A puppy fence within the kennel was set up and a couple wind tarps were also added to keep everyone warmer.

Coco will be spayed once the puppies are weaned. And we will be sure they are vaccinated once old enough.

We seem to be just 1 liter too late. But we will keep trying. Being in the community, meeting families and encouraging spay & neuter. Just so critical.

🐾 ONE WEEK LEFT in our October Fundraiser! 🐾

We’ve reached 34% of our goal! Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported our mission. We truly appreciate your generosity! ❤️

We continue being busy helping so many community pets in need. Just this week, we provided dog food to 28 dogs and 4 cats, distributed elevated dog beds, provided dog houses for dogs with minimal shelter, filled them with plenty of straw to keep them a bit warmer, and hung protective wind tarps to act as a wind shield from the cold.

And that’s just a glimpse of what we do to help.

We have one week left in our October fundraiser and we would love to see that percentage go up. There are endless dogs and cats needing our help in so many ways.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue this important work and reach more animals who need us.

Thank you everyone for caring, for giving, and supporting us as we work to make life a little better for community animals. Together, we can do so much more! ❤️🐾
