Meet Mike Stone, our Executive Director of 23 years.
Mike grew up a military kid, so when people ask where he's from, he says "nowhere and everywhere" until he found his place in Waco. What pulled him into this work wasn't a plan; it was a mission trip to Mexico, building homes for families. That feeling never left him.
Today he leads the whole Grassroots team, but the part that still gets him is watching a family become homeowners for the first time. He's seen firsthand how that one moment changes a family's trajectory for generations.
Outside the office, Mike is happiest outdoors: growing vegetables in his garden, backpacking in the mountains, bowhunting, or hiking to a waterfall. Fun fact, he's climbed Mt. Fuji 2.5 times. And when it comes to Waco food, he's not picky: Mexican, pizza, burgers, BBQ, he loves it all.
At home, Mike has been married to his wife Brook for 35 years, with 2 grown sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 5 grandchildren.
