Another meaningful step is taking shape at the Renaissance at Sanger Heights.

As work continues on site, materials from the former Sanger Avenue Elementary School are being thoughtfully repurposed into the next chapter of this neighborhood. Concrete from the old school is being crushed, cleared, and prepared to become part of the base material for the new alleyways throughout the development.

It’s a practical step with a deeper meaning. Pieces of the past are helping build the foundation for what’s ahead.

Could this be you? The Waco FEC is hiring a Financial Empowerment Counselor to provide one-on-one financial counseling across five key areas — credit, debt, savings, banking, and legacy planning.

The Waco FEC is a public service of the City of Waco, operated by Grassroots Community Development, launching September 2026. We’re looking for someone bilingual in English and Spanish, empathetic, a strong motivator, and passionate about helping individuals work toward their financial goals. This position reports to the FEC Program Manager.
