The votes are in, and the 2026–2028 contract has been ratified by the members of AFSCME Local 3596!

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was changed forever.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 450 people from the Garden State were among the thousands of innocent lives lost in the attacks that shook our country and the world. Among those we lost were also nine brothers and sisters of our AFSCME family from DC 37 in New York.

Today, we remember them. Not simply as numbers, but as people. Parents. Children. Friends. Coworkers. Public servants. Union members. Neighbors.

Twenty-five years later, the pain and loss of that day still echo across our communities. We honor those who were taken from us, the first responders who ran toward danger, the public service workers who answered the call in the days and months that followed, and everyone whose lives were forever changed.

We will never forget the nearly 450 members of our New Jersey communities who were lost. We will never forget our nine brothers and sisters from AFSCME DC 37.

Today, we remember.

And we stand together in remembrance, solidarity, and hope.
