Celebrating 250 Years of Independence and the People Who Keep Cape May County Strong.

This Fourth of July marks the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, a reminder that the strength of our nation has always depended on ordinary people willing to serve something greater than themselves.

Here in Cape May County, our union members proudly carry that spirit forward. Whether serving in our libraries, public works, fare free transportation, emergency management, health department, parks, our wonderful zoo, or countless other roles, we help keep our communities safe, healthy, and thriving every day.

As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we also celebrate the public servants who quietly make a difference every day. Together, we honor our past, serve our present, and work toward a stronger future for everyone.

From all of us at AFSCME Local 3596 we wish you and your family a safe, happy, and meaningful Independence Day. Happy Fourth of July!

Congratulations Gene Hill.

AFSCME was born in the depths of the Great Depression on a simple but powerful idea: that a professional civil service is essential to a strong democracy. This idea continues to be at the heart of AFSCME’s mission today as we fight for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public service, and stability and opportunity for all working families.
