COMMUNITY IMPACT AWARD

Some organizations create change that can be measured not only in numbers, but in transformed lives.

This year's Community Impact Award recognizes Stable-Spirit and Executive Director Katie Durio for their commitment to improving mental, physical, and emotional well-being throughout Southeast Texas. Since 2007, Katie has led the organization's operations, programming, fundraising, and grant efforts while expanding access to life-changing equine-assisted services.

Stable-Spirit provides Equine Assisted Learning, Hippotherapy, and Therapeutic Riding programs that help individuals and families build confidence, overcome challenges, and experience healing through professionally guided interactions with horses. The organization has served the Southeast Texas region for more than two decades and continues to make a meaningful difference every day.

Whew! What a storm that was! The horses are great! We have several limbs and lots of branches down. We do have a couple minor repairs that need to be made to the fence and a couple pieces of tin that lifted but no major damage. We are so thankful for that!! If you have time to help pick up branches or limbs in the next few days we would welcome the help!!

***Edit we have had a refrigerator donated.

Our current washing machine and refrigerator have stopped working, and we are in need of used replacements to help us get by until we can secure funding for new ones next year.

If you or someone you know has a working used washing machine or refrigerator that you would be willing to donate to Stable-Spirit, we would be incredibly grateful! 🙏

These may seem like small things, but they are important to keeping our facility running smoothly and caring for our horses, clients, and volunteers.

🐴 HEARTS & HOOVES TRAINING CLASS IS COMING! 💚

Are you a current Stable-Spirit volunteer who has completed Scoop Squad Orientation and is 16 years or older? Then you’re eligible to take the next step in your Stable-Wrangler journey!

✨ Hearts & Hooves Training Class
📅 September 5th
⏰ 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

This hands-on training is the next step for volunteers interested in learning more about working with our horses and supporting our clients during sessions. It’s where you’ll begin building the skills needed to move from our Support Team into Session Team opportunities. 🐴💚

Not a current volunteer yet, but interested in working with horses and/or clients? There’s still time to join us!

All of our Stable-Wranglers begin on the Support Team, starting with our Scoop Squad. This gives you a chance to get acquainted with Stable-Spirit, learn how things work, meet our team, and discover whether volunteering with us is the right fit for you.

If you’re interested in eventually working more closely with our horses or clients, now is a great time to get started! Get signed up as a standard volunteer, complete your Scoop Squad Orientation, and begin your Stable-Spirit journey. 🌟

🐴 **Hay Day Crew: We Need a Few More Helping Hands!** 💚

We’re looking for a few more **Stable-Wranglers to join our Hay Day Crew** and help with morning and/or evening barn chores. 🪣🌾

Our horses are keeping us on our toes right now! With several horses needing different types of special feed and individualized care routines, there is a lot of extra work happening behind the scenes.

Hay Day Crew volunteers help with barn chores during feeding times. These chores include filling water buckets, mucking stalls and/or paddocks, sweeping, and assisting the barn helpers as they prepare and feed the horses.

You’re eligible to train for the Hay Day Crew! - Contact Alice at 409-225-3566 to get started.

✨ **Not a volunteer yet but interested?**
We’d love to have you! Simply complete a volunteer application ( https://stable-spirit.org/volunteer-forms/ ) and attend Scoop Squad Orientation. Once those are completed, you’ll be eligible to train for the Hay Day Crew role.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers who enjoy the **hands-on horse care side of Stable-Spirit** and want to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of our horses. ❤️

Even a few hours a week can make a BIG difference for our Barn Helper staff and, most importantly, for our horses!
