👏👏🙏💫💫💫 April 4, 2004 our very first Resident walked through the doors of Commitment to Caring. As you go through your day today, let's show gratitude, grace and compassion to each Resident and each other. My mom had a dream and I am so proud that she followed through with it. CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🍾🎊 Here's to another 21 years💫🥇🎉🎊

This month, we're expanding our health insights with free A1C testing (commonly used to screen for diabetes and prediabetes) for all who successfully give blood through March 31.

Good done anywhere is good done everywhere. For a change, start by speaking to people rather than walking by them like they're stones that don't matter.

Self-Injury Awareness Month exists not just to educate about self-injury but to remind those who experience it that they are not broken or irredeemable. It’s a time to remind us that self-injury is something so many people deal with, and more importantly, it’s something so many people have found healing and recovery from.

đź’™You are not alone in your self-injury experiences. It is reported that 17% of people will self-injure at some point in their lives.

💙There is healing waiting on the other side of your urge to self-injure. The vast majority of coping with self-injury is learning to ride the intense urges that arise. Most of the time, it really is about making it to the next five minutes without hurting yourself. Whatever distraction, coping skills, or activities you need to do to keep from hurting yourself are valid, and you should be proud of each and every moment you’re able to hold out.

💙Engaging in self-injury doesn’t inherently mean you want to end your life. A lot of the stigma and misinformation around self-injury comes from the belief that it is always a suicidal behavior. NSSI (Non-Suicidal Self-Injury) is extremely common, and support may need to be approached differently than self-injury with suicidal intent.

💙Self-injury doesn’t have one “look.” It can happen to anyone, in a variety of ways, and recovery is unique for every person. It’s important not to get discouraged if recovery from self-injury feels like a roller coaster. Relapses and treatment plan adjustments may be a regular part of your journey, and that’s okay. It doesn’t make your healing any less valid. The simple act of trying and asking for help is brave.

💙You are not broken. Self-injury, just like any other mental health experience, is most likely a symptom of a larger problem. You are not defined by this single struggle. We all find ways to cope with the heaviest parts of life, and it’s not shameful if this is what you’ve found that works. But it matters that you work to find alternatives that keep you safe. We need you here.

⛑️ If you’re struggling with self-injury, please know that it’s okay to talk about it. It’s okay to ask for help.
