A big thank you to the team at Pennyrile Sawmill in Crofton, KY, for hosting our RTA Field Trip group last week.

Members enjoyed a tour of the facility, a firsthand look at sawmill operations, and plenty of hospitality along the way—including a pony helping make homemade ice cream!

We appreciate the time, effort, and knowledge shared with our group and thank Pennyrile for being an important part of our wood tie journey.

We had a great Member Field Trip experience in Tennessee and Kentucky last week, touring manufacturing operations related to the wood tie industry, including this visit to the Koppers Inc. plant in Guthrie, Ky.

We were extra lucky to have as one of our tour guides Josh Kmoch of Koppers, who also serves as a member of RTA's Education Committee and an instructor for the Tie Grading Seminar.

Thanks, Josh and to everyone at Koppers for allowing us the opportunity to visit!

Not all RTA work happens in the office!

RTA Executive Director Dr. Nate Irby and RTA Executive Committee member Will Cumberland of North American Tie & Timber rolled up their sleeves today for a DIY project, building a storage shelving unit to help organize RTA materials and supplies.

A special thank you to Will for donating his time and expertise to help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. We appreciate his continued support of RTA and his willingness to lend a hand whenever needed!
