It’s Wood is Good Friday! 🌳🪵

Did you know forests cover 14 million acres, or 52 percent of Tennessee, and approximately 89 percent of the trees in those forests are hardwoods? Tennessee also ranks among the top three hardwood lumber-producing states.

That made Tennessee the perfect place for RTA Executive Director Dr. Nate Irby to share the wood tie story this week with the Tennessee Forestry Association and talk about the important role wood ties play in the forest products industry. Nate also enjoyed catching up with a few RTA members in attendance.

We appreciate every opportunity to tell the wood tie story.

A Friend of RTA, and a new mug to prove it! ☕️

American Wood Technology’s Claus Staalner, left, shows off his new Friend of RTA mug with RTA Executive Director Dr. Nate Irby during the 2026 RTA Member Field Trip.

Claus was a Friend of RTA sponsor for the Field Trip and is always willing to step up in support of RTA and our events. We’re incredibly grateful for our Friends of RTA and ALL of our sponsors.

We simply couldn’t put on the quality events we do without their support. Thank you, Claus, and to all who support RTA throughout the year!

🌳 Wood is Good Friday: It’s time to flip the script.

For decades, generations grew up hearing that cutting trees is bad for forests. The North American Forest Foundation (NAFF) is working to change that outdated narrative with the facts about sustainable forestry, renewable forests and the important role wood plays in our everyday lives.

Through its Back-to-School with NAFF campaign, NAFF is helping the next generation learn the Truth About Trees—and you can be part of the solution by sponsoring a Truth About Trees education kit for students.

RTA is proud to help spread the word about this campaign. And help flip the script.
