October is National Bullying Prevention Month, an opportunity to remind our students, families, and school communities that kindness, respect, and inclusion make a difference every single day.
At the School District of Indian River County, we believe every student deserves to feel safe, welcomed, respected, and valued. Creating a positive school environment is a shared commitment, and the conversations we have with our children at home play an important role in strengthening the culture of kindness we work to build in our schools.
Families, you can help make a difference by:
• Talking with your child about treating others with kindness, respect, and understanding.
• Encouraging your child to speak with a trusted adult at school if they experience or witness bullying.
• Modeling kindness and positive behavior at home, in the community, and online.
• Staying connected with your child's school and reaching out whenever you have questions or concerns.
Bullying prevention is about more than recognizing harmful behavior. It is about teaching empathy, celebrating differences, building meaningful connections, and helping every student understand the importance of looking out for one another.
Together, we can continue creating school communities where every student feels a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
Because kindness isn't just something we encourage during October. It's something we choose every day.
Stronger Together.
