Volunteers needed to help with the "Moonshot Moment: FACES - Help Me Read; It Changes Who WE Become!" campaign running from 1/14 through 1/25. We're looking for people to hold signs at key locations in the county. We are working on a very cool project for The Learning Alliance and the Indian River County literacy coalition group, to support the School District's goal of 90% literacy by third grade! We will participating in the 2011 TedTalk winner, international insideoutproject.net. We'll be taking photos of local children, and then pasting up giant posters of their faces throughout the County during literacy week (Jan 21 -25.) This will help us to get the community talking about the literacy goal and to gain their support for it. We need volunteer photographers, paste up locations/businesses and volunteers. moonshotmoment.org/faces

The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading has named Vero Beach a Community Solutions PaceSetter for its leadership in addressing the challenges that keep many low-income students from learning to read.
Vero Beach is one of 124 cities, counties and towns nationwide that has committed to increase significantly the number of low-income students who read on grade level by the end of third grade. The city will be honored at a national conference in Denver June 30-July 2.

The PaceSetter Honors recognize communities that are "leading by example" to solve one or more of the challenges that can undermine early literacy
