Speech therapy changes lives! 🩵 Speech language pathologists play a vital role in helping children with cleft palate find their voices—especially in Peru, where many patients receive palate repairs later in childhood. We celebrate the dedication of these therapists and the incredible hard work of the patients they serve! 👏✨

We love our team members! Here is Dr. Keith Volner, a fantastic head and neck surgeon currently practicing in Hawaii. He joined the FACES Team in Peru this last January, and we hope to serve with him again soon!

It takes a team! The patients for the Surgical Cleft Mission Trip are pre-screened virtually by volunteer FACES Team Members. The facial plastic surgeons and speech language pathologists interview the families with the aid of Spanish / English interpreters.

¡Se necesita un equipo! Los pacientes para la Campaña Quirúrgica de Labio y Paladar Fisurado son evaluados previamente de manera virtual por voluntarios del equipo de FACES. Los cirujanos plásticos faciales y los terapeutas del habla y lenguaje entrevistan a las familias con el apoyo de intérpretes de español e inglés.
