🧠 Join us for our October Crawford County Alliance Meeting!

Mental health can affect every area of our lives, and often, there is a deeper connection between mental health and the circumstances that lead individuals and families into crisis.

Join us for “When Mental Health Reaches Crisis: Voices from the Front Lines” as we hear from a panel of local leaders representing mental health treatment court, law enforcement, homelessness services, and community support. Together, we’ll explore the challenges individuals face and how we can strengthen our community’s response through collaboration and connection.

It’s been an eventful two days in Little Rock! ❤️

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit with Sean at Every Arkansan and learn more about their Fatherhood Program. This pilot program launched in April and already has 109 graduates!! What a wonderful way to support, encourage, mentor, and invest in dads and their families!

Today, I’ve spent the day at the Arkansas Early Childhood Association (AECA) Conference. Earlier this year, I submitted a proposal to share the 100 Families Initiative at this year’s annual conference, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to bring these two worlds together.

Early childhood education will always hold a special place in my heart. After spending 20 years in this profession, I understand the importance of connecting early childhood educators with the 100 Families Initiative. These incredible educators are on the front lines, caring for our children and often recognizing when a family is struggling.

Engaging families and connecting them with the support they need is critical preventative work. With Arkansas ranking 45th in the nation for children who have experienced two or more Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), we must be intentional about supporting families before challenges become crises.

Today was about equipping educators with the tools, resources, and connections they need when they recognize a family in need. By linking arms with these amazing professionals and coming alongside the families they serve, we can help strengthen families, support parents, and protect the children who represent our future.

When we support the people who care for our children, we create more opportunities to strengthen the families behind them.

Last week was FULL of community connections! ❤️

Last Sunday, I had the privilege of speaking at Visionary Christian Church - Alma and sharing how they can get involved in helping their neighbors through 100 Families and CarePortal Arkansas Family Alliance. What an amazing group of believers who truly want to serve and make a difference in their community! Thank you for having me!

I also had the opportunity to attend the 100 Families Initiative of Independence County Alliance Meeting in Batesville. It was so encouraging to see the incredible work happening through Community Schools and 100 Families in their community. Their meeting focused on car seat safety, and we had the opportunity to learn from an SRO and a representative from Arkansas Children’s Hospital about how we can better keep our kiddos safe while traveling. 🚗❤️

And the week ended with the ACEs Symposium! What an incredible lineup of speakers and panelists! We heard from judges, attorney ad litems, legislators, and doctors. They all came together with a shared desire to improve the future of our children.

Arkansas ranks among the states with the highest prevalence of adverse childhood experiences, so we spent time looking specifically at policy and how we can create meaningful change and decrease ACEs among our most precious population...Arkansas' children.

Thank you, Dr. Lisa Abuja with Center for Psychiatric Trauma & Mental Health - CPTMH, for bringing the education, insight, and challenge to those of us who are passionate about this work and committed to making a difference every day!

So thankful for a week filled with connection, collaboration, learning, and people who are willing to show up for our communities. This work matters, and we are better and stronger when we do it together. ❤️

📚💻 Last Friday, our Crawford County Alliance came together at Arts on Main for our September meeting, and we had the opportunity to learn from an incredible speaker, Dr. Robin Finley.

Dr. Finley is in her 38th year as an educator in Arkansas and is the Founder & CEO of TeachingTIME. She joined us to discuss “Kids, Clicks, and AI: What Every Adult Needs to Know” — an incredibly timely conversation about keeping our children safe in an increasingly digital world and understanding the role that artificial intelligence is playing in education. The conversation was a great reminder that technology is evolving quickly, and as the adults who support children, families, and our communities, we have to keep learning, too.

Thank you to Dr. Finley for sharing her knowledge and helping us better understand how we can support the children and families we serve. When we learn together, we’re better equipped to serve together. 🤝

Today our crew had the opportunity to participate in the Crawford County Adult Education Center's Second Chance Job Fair! 🙌

What an incredible turnout! So many employers, organizations, and community partners showed up ready to help individuals take that next step toward employment and a fresh start. And there was great food, too! 😋

And in a little unexpected plot twist… I even donated blood! 😳❤️

We are so grateful to be part of a community that believes in second chances, shows up for one another, and works together to create pathways to opportunity.
