For nearly 40 years, Crawford County Volunteers for Literacy has helped adults and families in our community build the skills they need to reach their goals.

Many people know us for literacy, but our services extend beyond reading and writing. We also provide support with math, English language learning (ESL), digital literacy, and other educational goals. Whether someone wants to improve workplace skills, prepare for further education, build confidence using technology, or strengthen everyday skills, we're here to help!

We often hear, "I didn't know those services were available here!"

That's exactly why we launched the new Resources section on our website.

Our first post takes a closer look at the adult education services available through CCVL, who they serve, and how these programs help strengthen individuals, families, and our community.

A huge thank you to Arvest Bank and the Arvest EmpowerED team for partnering with CCVL for our Financial Literacy Workshop yesterday!

Through the EmpowerED program, participants had access to valuable information and practical resources they could take with them that focused on budgeting, financial goal setting, debt management, and building stronger financial habits. These are all skills that can make a real difference in everyday life and help individuals and families work toward greater financial stability.

Community partnerships like this allow us to connect our learners with knowledge and resources they may not otherwise have access to, and we're grateful for organizations that are willing to invest their time and expertise in our community.

Thank you, Arvest, for helping make financial education more accessible and for supporting lifelong learning right here in Crawford County.

We look forward to continuing to bring educational workshops and practical learning opportunities to our community through partnerships like these. If you have a topic in mind that you’d like to see, feel free to message us or comment below!

Workshops like this are important because many were never given practical financial tools they could apply to everyday life.

At tomorrow’s Financial Literacy workshop, we’ll walk through real-life budgeting challenges, spending habits, goal setting, debt reduction, and ways to make day-to-day money management feel more manageable and less overwhelming.

A huge thank you to Arvest Bank for partnering with CCVL and helping provide workshops that support our community in practical ways.

The workshop will be at 4pm at our office location and open to all community members and resources that are interested in learning more about money management and what our workshops are like.

We’re hoping to continue offering workshops like this throughout the year covering topics that directly impact everyday life, workforce readiness, and family stability.

If there’s a topic you’d love to see us offer in the future, please drop it in the comments below! Share to help it reach those that could benefit.

We’re looking forward to hosting a free Financial Literacy Workshop this week in partnership with Arvest Bank in Alma.

This workshop is designed to be very practical for your financial goals. Real conversations and helpful information about everyday topics like budgeting, saving money, banking basics, credit, and building stronger financial habits over time.

Whether you’re trying to stretch your paycheck a little further, learn more about managing expenses, or simply ask questions in a comfortable setting, this workshop is open to the community and completely free to attend.

A lot of financial advice online can feel unrealistic or out of reach. We wanted to offer something local, supportive, and focused on real-life situations people are facing right now.
