We had a great opportunity to partner with the Town of Saint John today! They recently had a waste hauler transition, and as a result had many excess recycling containers. We were able to pick up a load of these to bring back to campus. These will be used for recycling at campus events and athletic facilities. Thanks Saint John for this great donation!

Got pumpkins? We'll compost them! If you're hosting a pumpkin carving or pumpkin smash event this month reach out and we will happily provide compost bins!

Introducing the Campus Recycling Hub! Have some old batteries laying around? Books collecting dust? This is the place to give them a new life!

Located on the second floor of the Harre Union, this new recycling station accepts the following items:

Electronics- Any device that uses batteries or plugs in is electronic waste.

Plastic Film- Grocery bags, stretch wrap, shipping mailers, and more!

Clothing and Textiles- All clothing and fabric items. Materials in good condition will be donated, and the rest will be recycled.

Batteries- All types of batteries, including alkaline, lithium ion, and lead acid.

Ink cartridges- All brands and types of ink and toner cartridges.

Books- Any books in good condition.

Coffee pods- used Keurig coffee pods.

Mixed recycling- Clean and dry paper, cardboard, metal, glass, and plastic.

Another great weekend for sustainability at Valpo! 🌎♻️

We started off with Rev. Konkol's inauguration, which was a fully zero-waste event. Over 400 pounds of compost were collected!

On Saturday we collected over 15,000 beverage containers to recycle from the homecoming game and tailgating.

We had several students from VUE 101: Gardening and the Good Earth help plant around our main entrance this morning. This area is looking great now and is ready for homecoming!

We can always use extra help so message us if you would like to volunteer at future games!

Did you know we recycle wood? Any scrap wood or broken pallets on campus is turned into mulch or erosion control products. Just another way we are reducing waste behind the scenes! ♻️

Thanks Valparaiso University Dining for your help with another great zero waste event yesterday. We were able to compost everything from the Welcome Back BBQ!
