Rainbow Fish love water. But books and other library materials do not. Please please please keep your library items safe and dry. If they come in damp, it causes a whole lot of extra work and requires a lot of space to spread out materials to ensure they dry, and you could potentially be charged to replace an item that is ruined. Water sometimes breaks down the integrity of the binding and many times a damp item will mildew, causing the item to be ruined. This includes using the outdoor return boxes in a downpour - your item may be nice and protected in a plastic bag, but the bag can drip onto other, unprotected items. We would love it if you wait until it's not raining to return items to the outdoor boxes. If you fear your item will be late, give us a call and we will be very happy to renew it for you!

The State Library of Kansas is implementing a streamlined process for Kansans to suggest digital book titles for CloudLibrary. CloudLibrary users can now search for titles directly within the CloudLibrary app or website, then use the Suggest button to recommend a title for purchase.

When a suggested title is purchased, CloudLibrary adds it to patron’s holds list. If multiple suggestions are made of the same title, holds are placed in order of submitted suggestion.
Suggestions are now reviewed more frequently. A person can suggest up to three titles per month.

The current Digital Book Title Suggestion Form will remain available through October 12, 2026, with a notice about the transition.

Suggesting a title does not guarantee purchase. Titles are purchased in the format best suited to the collection and align with statewide digital collections goals. Suggestions do not include pre-publication titles.

The October Mah Jong class has been filled from our waitlist. However, if you are interested in playing, please contact the Library at 316-755-7350 x 1, we would be happy to add you to our waitlist for our next class, and we would love to have a few extra interested people to call on in case we have any cancellations for October. The October class will be on Thursday nights from 6 to 8:30 PM, on these dates: October 1, 8 and 22. We are working with our volunteer Mah Jong leader, Alison, to see if we can put together another class sometime in January. More info to come!!
