Permanent Water Restrictions for Kechi Residents.

At the October 9th meeting, the Kechi City Council approved a new Water Conservation Ordinance to align with Wichita’s updated watering restrictions. Because Kechi purchases its water from Wichita, the same limits now apply within our city.

Watering in Kechi is now limited to:
• Monday, Wednesday, and Friday only
• Before 10:00 AM or after 6:00 PM

Please note:
• No watering is allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, or Sundays.
• Hand watering is permitted anytime, except between 10 AM and 6 PM.
• Watering with private wells or collected rainwater remains allowed.
• Variances may be requested for special situations, such as new sod or reseeding.
• The City’s primary focus will be education and conservation, but repeat violations may result in fines.

These updates are designed to promote responsible water use, reduce demand during peak times, and maintain compliance with Wichita’s water system requirements. Thank you for helping to conserve one of our community’s most important resources!

The Kechi Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate Forum on Monday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Kechi City Hall Community Room.

This event offers residents an opportunity to meet and learn more about the individuals running for Kechi Mayor and City Council before the November 4th Election. Everyone is welcome to attend and take part in this important community conversation.

For those unable to attend in person, the forum will be live streamed on the City of Kechi page.

Drawing for 5 FINALISTS will be on December 10th at Rusty Eck Ford. The 5 Finalists will receive a key on December 17th at 11:00am. The key that starts the car WINS!
