The Haven: Offering 24/7 shelter & support for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, & Human Trafficking.

Advocating for survivors, providing essential resources, & promoting a violence-free community. Today, The Haven boasts 18 staff members and 8 programs serving victims in a nine-county area, including Lowndes, Brooks, Colquitt, Echols, Berrien, Cook, Lanier, Clinch and Atkinson counties, in South Georgia. Thanks to continuing courage and efforts of local volunteers who comprise the Board of Directors, The Haven remains an important resource for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Today, The Haven joined the City of Valdosta, Lowndes County, and members of our community in recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Today's proclamation served as an important reminder that awareness, education, and community involvement all play a role in creating a safer future.

Thank you to Chairman Bill Slaughter, Mayor Scott James Matheson, Zachary Register and Meredith Brasher with the Southern District Attorney’s Office, Michael Smith CEO with Greater Valdosta United Way, and Moody Family Advocacy for their continued recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to everyone who joined us today in support of survivors and in remembrance of the lives lost to domestic violence.

Get ready for a paws-itively amazing time! Join us for Walking Paws for a Cause next Saturday October 24th at 8 AM!

We’re excited to have Lowndes County K9 joining us for this special event! They’ll be selling adorable stuffed animals and putting on an exciting K9 demonstration so you can see these incredible dogs in action! Make sure to stop by their booth and check it out!
