Yesterday was one of those moments that truly takes your breath away.

The Coordinator for Valdosta Toys for Tots was honored by the American Red Cross with the Kindness in Action Award—and while the recognition may carry one name, it belongs to so many.

It belongs to the volunteers who have poured in countless hours, showing up day after day with full hearts and tired hands.
It belongs to the individuals, businesses, and organizations who open their doors, host events, fill toy boxes, and stand beside us in the warehouse.
It belongs to a community that continues to show what compassion in action truly looks like.

A special thank you to Ashley Lopez, Jennifer Jessup, and Alan Simmons for your unwavering support and volunteerism since day one.

This is more than an award—it is a reflection of love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the children and families we serve.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in this mission and for showing up in ways that matter.

And to the American Red Cross—thank you for this incredible honor, for your partnership, and for the meaningful work you continue to do throughout our region.

Together, we are making a difference. ❤️

The Hahira Police Department is excited to offer the S.A.F.E. Program, or Self -defense Awareness & Familiarity Exchange to the community free of charge on Thursday, March 19. The S.A.F.E. program, or Self-Defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange, is a comprehensive educational initiative designed to empower women with strategies, techniques and options to enhance personal safety.

Developed by the National Self-Defense Institute, the S.A.F.E. (Self-Defense Awareness & Familiarity Exchange) program is a 2-hour educational awareness, crime prevention program that provides women with information that reduces their risk of exposure to violence and introduces them to the physical aspects of self-defense. Teaching that "90% of self-defense is awareness, risk reduction, and avoiding confrontation; and only 10% is physical" (and focusing on both mental and physical preparedness) 'S.A.F.E.' provides women with solid public safety-awareness information to incorporate into their everyday lives.

Attendees will be provided an introduction to personal safety and crime prevention measures, and is followed by a familiarization to (5) basic physical defense techniques. Participation encourages you to:

Think in terms of options and choices.

Develop awareness and assertiveness skills.

Provide practice for physical self-defense techniques.

Expand the way you think about violence prevention.

Helps to deal with fear(s) and feel more empowered.

This presentation is intended for women only. While we know anyone can experience harm, our goal is to assist women with risk reduction strategies. This class is made for participates 13 years of age (as long as a female guardian attends the class with them) and older. There is NO cost for the class.

Participants must register in advance with the Hahira Police Department, 229-794-2440, option 2.

If you gave to Marine Toys for Tots in 2025, I want you to know something important:

Your gift didn't stop making an impact on December 26th.

Right now—today—a child is playing with a toy you helped provide. Maybe it's a basketball being dribbled in a driveway. A doll being tucked into bed. A book being read for the third time this week.

The joy doesn't disappear when the wrapping paper does. That's the beautiful truth about what you make possible.

But here's what most people don't realize: while children are still enjoying last year's gifts, we're already hard at work preparing for this year's campaign.

January through October is when the real work happens.

We are securing storage, training volunteers, developing strategic planning for donation collection and distribution and negotiating toy prices to maximize benefits to our community in need.

We're updating our systems. We're preparing to serve disadvantaged children with the same excellence and dignity you've come to expect from our Marines and civilian volunteers.

This behind-the-scenes work isn't glamorous, but it's essential. And it requires resources NOW—not in November when the need becomes urgent.
That's where you come in.

Your gift today helps us:
✅ Lock in early toy purchases at discounted prices
✅ Cover the year-round operational costs that don't stop when the holidays end
✅ Train and equip volunteers
✅ Plan smarter, reach more children, and make every dollar count

Whether you give $1, $50, $100, $250, or whatever feels comfortable to you, your support today ensures we're ready when children need us most.

Thank you for being the kind of supporter who understands that great work requires great preparation. Your gift today is an investment in countless smiles we haven't even seen yet.

P.S. - Every dollar we raise now goes further because we can plan strategically instead of reacting urgently. Early support = maximum impact. Please give today.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity which was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps in 1991.
