9 Clubs and 16 Volunteers screened 366 students in Mt. Holly NC today. With six stations set up, we were able to complete this in 90 minutes!

Members of the Valdese NC Lions attended the North Carolina Lions District 31-L 2025 Fall Convention Camp Dogwood for the Blind and Visually Impaired. It was great to make new connections, learn from different Lions, and enjoy the company of established friendships.

Highlights:

🎉 Meeting Lion Dr. Lacy Presnell who has been a Lion for an amazing 75 years.
🌎 Hearing words of wisdom and inspiration from International Director Chris Carlone. His challenge coin says "United We Stand Stronger - Together We Serve Longer".
👏 Congratulations to Richard Wilcox District Governor Elect (DGE); Wayne Houser 1st V. DGE; and Jason Foster 2nd V. DGE.
🎄Christmas stockings were filled for McCune Center residents.
🧑‍🎄 Ugly sweater contest was quite amusing.
💵 The auction brought in money for the McCune Center and Camp Dogwood.
🦁 Five new Lions were inducted.

Jerry Williams was long time member of the Valdese NC Lions, serving in several roles including President. His cheerfulness will be missed.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 P.M at Summit Community Church in Morganton, with Rev. Mike Shillinglaw officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park, with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard.
