Are you looking for a way to give back to your community?

Volunteering with BUCM is a great way to help those in need here in Burke County! Volunteers are what make it possible for us to serve our neighbors each day. Opportunities include the Food Pantry, Warehouse, Soup Kitchen (best for groups), Thrift Store, and H.O.P.E. Center.

You can learn more about how you could get involved by attending a Volunteer Interest Meeting. Hosted every second Tuesday at 2 pm, come meet the Volunteer Coordinator, learn about our mission and all the ways to get involved.

Please register to attend the event at bucm.net/events.
We hope to see you there!

🥶 IT’S THE BERRRR MONTHS!🧤🧥

As the temperatures drop, so does the need for warm clothing in our community. ❤️

Jethro’s Community Outreach is collecting pants, hoodies, sweatshirts, hats, jackets, gloves & shoes to help keep our neighbors warm this winter.

If you have gently used or new items to donate, we would be so grateful! Every item can make a difference. 🫶

📍 Drop-off: 209 Church St NW, Valdese, NC
📞 Call for drop-off appointments: 828-215-6315 or 828-390-9541

Let’s make sure nobody has to face the cold without something warm to wear.❤️

Save the date! Sunday, September 13th is our Open House. Please come and bring the family! We will have hot dogs, chips, drinks and slushies. You will be able to tour the property, play indoor putt-putt, we will have yard games set up, you can go on a scavenger hunt and all while learning interesting trivia about the North Carolina Lions Foundation and Camp Dogwood. We hope to see you there!

And thank you Jethro's Community Outreach for all the work you do!

The Valdese NC Lions showed up for us again!❤️
This week we were able to call on one of our incredible community partners to help provide reading glasses for some of our unsheltered neighbors. What may seem like a simple pair of glasses can mean reading important paperwork, filling out applications, reading the Bible, or simply seeing life a little more clearly.
A huge thank you to Tamara Strickley and Theresa Catherine Patton two ladies who are real-life superheroes in our book. Your kindness and willingness to serve truly make a difference.
Little acts of kindness add up quickly, and together they change lives.
If you didn't know, the Valdese Lions Club provides vision screenings, helps people find ways to access much-needed eyeglasses, and serves our community in so many other ways. They are an incredible organization filled with amazing people who genuinely care.
Take a moment to check out their page, support their mission, and if you're able, consider volunteering. Our community is stronger because of people like them.
Thank you, Valdese Lions Club, for helping us bring hope in tangible ways. 💙🦁
