⚠️ What is a PSPS? (Public Safety Power Shutoff) ⚠️

You may hear that a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) is being considered for parts of Lake County.

A PSPS is a planned power outage that utility companies may use during periods of extreme fire danger, such as high winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation. The goal is to reduce the risk of power lines sparking a wildfire and help keep our communities safe.

🔋 Be Prepared Before the Power Goes Out:
• Charge phones, laptops, and portable battery packs.
• Keep flashlights and extra batteries handy.
• Set your refrigerator and freezer to the coldest setting and avoid opening the doors.
• Have enough drinking water, food, medications, and pet supplies for several days.
• Fuel your vehicle if possible.
• If you rely on medical equipment that requires electricity, make backup plans now.

💡 Remember: A PSPS is preventive. It does not necessarily mean there is a wildfire nearby, but conditions have become dangerous enough that shutting off power can help prevent one from starting.

Stay informed, stay prepared, and check on neighbors, elders, and anyone who may need extra assistance during an outage.
