Don't miss this opportunity to walk in an Important Birding Area with the President of the Redbud Audubon Society, Donna Mackiewicz, who can identify these birds by sight and sound!

The Lake County Land Trust’s Kuhla’Napo Preserve, an important part of the Big Valley Protection Plan, is valued as a preservation-priority parcel because of its benefit to Clear Lake and its watershed’s health, and is also an Important Bird Area (IBA). IBA’s are designated locations important for critical conservation of bird populations.

Kuhla'Napo Preserve offers essential habitats for breeding, feeding, and migrating birds. The Preserve is home to California quail, wild turkey, raptors, and waterfowl such as white pelicans, grebes, as well as so many other amazing species.

Celebrate with The Lake County Land Trust in spreading their wings throughout Lake County as they hold a South County Fall Fundraiser!

A delightful charcuterie board provided by Ripe Choice’s Chef Tammy Lipps and local w**e will be served and can be enjoyed in Casa Norte’s unique indoor and outdoor seating areas that have wonderful views of nature. Live music will be played by acoustic musicians Don Coffin, a folk artist, and fiddle player Andi Skelton.

This event will award Supporter of the Year and celebrate supporters who make the Lake County Land Trust’s mission of preserving, conserving, and restoring Lake County’s natural resources possible.

⏰Saturday October 10, 2026 from 2-4 p.m.

This Saturday September 19th, 9 AM at the Kuhla'Napo Wetland Preserve in Lakeport.

Join LCLT staff and partners in bird and wildlife viewing while learning about the Land Trust's wetland restoration project along Manning Creek and eastern levee on the beautiful shores of Clear Lake.

Also this month, participants will enjoy the new educational signage at both lakeside covered pavilions and be able to observe the beneficial fire preparation around the eastern side of the preserve. This is a major project coordinated with tribal partners at Big Valley Rancheria and the Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance (TERA) and funded by the Blue Ribbon Committee for the Rehabilitation of Clear Lake. It truly is restoration in action!

This walk will still provide lots of opportunities to observe nature, birds, wildflowers, wildlife, and water fowl at the Kuhlanapo Wetland Preserve.

Mosquitos and some ticks may still be around so long pants and sleeves--and bug repellant--are suggested. Sturdy shoes are best, and bring water. A portable restroom is available on site and only park in designate areas. The bird and wildlife is abundant--bring binoculars!

​Soda Bay Road south towards Kelseyville, pass the Lake County Transfer and Recycling Center, cross the Manning Creek bridge, just past the black mailbox make a left onto the road that will take you to the preserve entrance about ½ mile

Lake County Land Trust Celebrates it's partners in Nature!

In celebration of California Biodiversity Week, the natural resources team for Clear Lake State Park would like to invite you, your colleagues, and the rest of the community to join us on Thursday September 10 for a day of identifying as many species as we can find. We will be meeting at 10am in the Visitor Center parking lot before breaking out to cover the park until 3pm. Don't forget to bring a lunch, plenty of water, sturdy shoes, and any other items you need for a safe and comfortable experience. Any specialty equipment is welcome — birders with binoculars, fish folks with nets, mycologists with macro-lenses... you get the idea. Or just bring yourself, your phone, and your energy!

If you can't attend for the full time, please join us during the time when it is convenient for you or go solo on another day during Biodiversity Week. Observations recorded between September 5 - September 13 will count toward our overall numbers. Bioblitz attendees during our Sept.10 event will get free day-use entry into the park.

Saturday September 5th, 2026 10am - 12:30pm at Rodman Nature Preserve with the 2026 Lake County Poet Laureate, Roy Arthur Blodgett

Learn about the poetic art of Sonnets followed by a gentle trail walk through the Rodman Preserve with individual reflections and ending with an easy and relaxing collective poem exercise.
Snacks, refreshments, writing tool and notepads will be provided.
Nature through art!
