This talk will explore the importance of creative communities and their influence on Michael LeVell’s artistic practice and career. This event is free and open to the public! 🪑 🪑 We will have limited seating and anticipate reaching capacity. Therefore the first forty chairs will be on a first come first served basis.

Join Tierra del Sol artist Chris Mendoza for ‘Dark Shadow’ Boxes, a Halloween-inspired workshop where participants will transform miniature coffin-shaped apothecary shelves (or “Apotha-scary” shelves!) into their own delightfully eerie creations.
Paint, decorate, and personalize your coffin shelf with an assortment of miniatures and spooky embellishments. All materials, including coffin shelves, paint, hot glue, and decorations, will be provided!

Even in portraiture, Michael LeVell’s fascination with structure and design comes through — hints of furniture legs appear like overlays or residual sketches. The line work emerges as angular and is itself architectural. 👁️ LeVell’s signature layering of colored pencil gives the image a remarkable density: a bronzed miniature that glows.

This portrait can be seen among others in our exhibition “Michael LeVell’s: Salient Forms,” a thirty-seven year career-survey from one of the founding artists of the Tierra Studio Program.

Tierra del Sol Artist Neil ‘Nonstop’ Natividad talks about his very cool brand! isn’t just a brand—it’s a way to combine my creativity, my experiences, and my passion to make a real difference. As an autistic artist, creating allows me to express my biggest ideas and share my message.

The best part of the Frank D Lanterman Regional Ctr event on September 27th was the scene of people coming together. Connecting with the community and sharing my work is exactly why I do this. From selling 13 shirts on the first day to setting up this full event booth, the journey has been unforgettable. Every design is a piece of my mind running .

In the end, it’s not about the money—it’s about the message, the community, and proving to yourself that you can start. Thank you to everyone who made that day so special! 🚀 Follow along at Neil “Non-Stop” Natividad to see what I build next.
