Sunday, July 26, the Unity Historical Society will welcome Dana Murch. to speak about the Maine poet Charlotte Louise Smith. She was born in Unity.
The Historical Society will be open 1-3 PM Sunday, and everyone is welcome! Light refreshments will be served.

Have you ever thought about the many Mainers who went west during the Gold Rush?
The Unity Historical Society invites you to an open house and speaker on this topic on Sunday, June 28 1-3 PM.
We are excited to welcome Ron Kley of East Winthrop to discuss this interesting period of Maine history with us. His academic background was in geology, with studies completed at Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, and Boston University. He began his museum career at the Boston Children's Museum in 1962 and later spent two decades with the Maine State Museum (1968–1988). He continues to work today as a museum consultant and contractor.
Additionally, during his military service in the mid-1960s, he was privileged to work with Dr. Edward Teller on "Project Plowshare," exploring civil engineering applications for nuclear explosives.
Please join us on June 28th at the Unity Historical Society at the corner of Main and Depot Streets from 1-3 PM. There will be light refreshments and everyone is welcome.

Two historical events that are coming up.
The Unity Historical Society will have an open house on Sunday, April 26th, 1-3 pm. Robert and Alicia Benson will be doing a presentation on The Hezekiah Chase House 1826-2026. Everyone is welcome!
Then on Ron Desrosiers will be leading a Jane's Walk on May 2. Even though there will be about 70 Jane's Walks across the state that day, this will be the only one in Waldo County.
Agricultural Land Use Changes Over Time at the Richardson Memorial
We will trace past and present day land uses of the Richardson Memorial Preserve in Unity as related to soils, geography and agricultural markets over time. The last open house of the Unity Historical Society for 2025 will be held 1-3 PM. this Sunday, October 19. There will be a speaker, Doug Fox, who will tell us about his walk on the Camino de Santiago and his presentation will begin around 1:30.
There will be light refreshments, and everyone is welcome!
Hope you can join us if you would like to hear Doug Fox or just tour the Historical Society building.
