Yesterday, the Maine racing community waved the final checkered flag for the man in black and yellow, Dave Darveau.
I don’t believe there is a single soul who has been to a racetrack in Maine who hasn’t heard his name. The legacy of his career will forever be etched in Maine racing history. There was quite simply no other man like him.

The wins. The championships. The ingenuity. The mentorship. He did it all.

But besides the man behind the steering wheel, Dave will be just as well remembered for his laugh, his colorful sense of humor, and most of all… his friendship.

He will be missed by so many, but I have a feeling the many friends welcoming him home will certainly be happy to have him joining the field at the next race.
We are thinking of Rita & Dave's entire family.

One of the many things we love about the Unity Raceway Annual Reunion is seeing track personnel like Buster Roy return to take on their old roles for the day!
Buster will be back in the flag stand, flagging the vintage exhibition races at our reunion on September 13, 2026! And the best part? This is a FREE event!

Unity Raceway History Spotlight- Unity was originally a 1/2 mile clay track. In 1965, Bob Knowles paved the track and shortened it. Years later, Unity Raceway is back to it's original roots of racing on the dirt. While I was working on the Unity Raceway documentary last summer, there was a story I heard that stuck out to me that I think about often. When the track was getting converted back to a dirt track, the workers needed to dig down on the track and they found where the original track was and clay. I was so fortunate enough to have some of the original clay given to me from back in the 50's and 60's. More history, photos and reels to come. -Paige❤️🏁
