Yesterday, in honor of the Parkaash Purab of Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji, Sikh Support partnered with Mountain Mike’s Pizza Pinole to distribute 50 large pizzas and bottles of water to those experiencing homelessness in Oakland. Special thanks to our friend Ramandeep, the owner of the Mountain Mike’s, for generously supporting the seva. Thank you to everyone else who helped make it possible. Together, we were able to serve our community once again.

Today, Sikh Support’s volunteers came together at Sikh Gurdwara San Jose to prepare and distribute 250 hot meals to those in need throughout San Jose.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Satluj movie screening at Gurdwara Sahib El Sobrante. It was great to see so many people take the time to watch a film inspired by the life of Shaheed Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra and learn more about this important chapter of Sikh history.

Earlier today, volunteers from Sikh Support prepared and served 500 burritos to the homeless community across Sacramento.

A special thank you to Gurdwara Sachkhand Isher Darbar for allowing us to use their kitchen to prepare the food. Their support is what made this seva possible.

Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra was a bank officer from Amritsar who became known for investigating thousands of unidentified cremations and alleged enforced disappearances in Punjab during the 1980s and 1990s. Through official records and public advocacy, he brought international attention to the issue and called for accountability and justice. In September 1995, he was abducted outside his home by the Punjab Police. He was later killed in custody. His body has never been discovered till this day.

His work remains an important part of modern Sikh and human rights history, and his courage continues to inspire people to stand for truth, justice, and human dignity.
