السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Alhamdulillah, since 2023 the Mauritania Foundation has procured 25 dairy cows to provide fresh milk for the fuqara and students of Darrasalaam. This year, we aim to double the herd from 25 to 50 cows, bringing sustainable nutrition to even more villages across Mauritania.

Each cow comes with a calf, allowing the benefit to grow over time. The cows are distributed throughout rural communities and poor neighborhoods around Kiffa, providing fresh milk and long-term
support for families facing poverty and food insecurity.

A single Mauritanian dairy cow produces approximately 2–3 gallons
of milk daily, helping nourish hundreds of people with a reliable source of nutrition.

Cost per cow (with calf): $1,050
Goal: 25 additional cows

A typical Mauritanian dairy cow produces approximately 2–3 gallons of milk daily, depending on local conditions. بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ وَبَارِكْ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ

The Virtue of the Day of ʿArafah

May Allah جل جلاله bestow His mercy upon us during this blessed night and the Day of ʿArafah.

It was on the Day of ʿArafah, during the Hajj of our Prophet ﷺ, that Allah جل جلاله revealed the verse in Sūrah al-Mā’idah, Verse 3:

*ٱلْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلْإِسْلَامَ دِينًا*
“This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion.”
— [Qur’an, 5:3]

In his Tafsīr, Ibn Kathir narrates that a Jewish man came to Umar ibn al-Khattab and said:

“O Amīr al-Mu’minīn, there is a verse in the Qur’an that, if it had been revealed to us [i.e. the Jews], we would have taken that day as a holiday.”

ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه replied:

“By Allah! I know when and where this verse was revealed to Allah’s Messenger ﷺ. It was the evening of the Day of ʿArafah on a Friday.”

By the mercy of Allah ﷻ, we are in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah and have 3 days remaining

The Messenger of Allah (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said:
مَا الْعَمَلُ فِي أَيَّامِ الْعَشْرِ أَفْضَلَ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ فِي هَذِهِ

“No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done on these (first ten days of Dhul Hijjah)”
-Hadith Bukhari

Qurbani/Udhiya 1447 - 2026

By the mercy of Allah ﷻ, the Hajj season is fast approaching and with Allah’s permission, the Mauritania Foundation is accepting your Qurbani payments for the sacrifice of sheep and cows for distribution to the poor and needy throughout Mauritania. The cost of one sheep is $200 USD, the cost of one cow is $800 USD, and the cost of one camel is $1500.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

الحمد الله والصلاة والسلام على رسول وعلى آله وأصحابه أجمعين

‎لْفُقَرَاءِ الَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْبًا فِي�الْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ الْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَاءَ مِنَ التَّعَفُّفِ تَعْرِفُهُم بِسِيمَاهُمْ لَا يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيم

[Charity is] for the poor who have been restricted for the cause of Allah, unable to move about in the land. An ignorant [person] would think them self-sufficient because of their restraint, but you will know them by their [characteristic] sign. They do not ask people persistently [or at all]. And whatever you spend of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it.

Take advantage of this 27th night of Ramadan and obtain the multiplied rewards of Ramadan and hopefully the reward of Laylatul Qadr - the night of power whose rewards is better than a thousand months. Charity benefits the giver just as the much as the one who is given. Giving in charity purifies the heart as well as saves you from calamities. It frees your heart from the dunya and brings your attention towards the next life. May Allah make us among those give generously in support of the people of knowledge, the poor, and the weak.

May Allah give us all special tawfeeq and afiya this Ramadan!

الحمد الله والصلاة والسلام على رسول وعلى آله وأصحابه أجمعين

‎عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا
‎مَاتَ الْإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ إِلَّا مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ
‎1631 صحيح مسلم كتاب الوصية باب ما يلحق الإنسان من الثواب بعد وفاته

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When the human being dies, his deeds end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”

The scholars have repeatedly mentioned that “Action without Knowledge is haraam” and further emphasized with the statement “Islam without knowledge does not exist”. Dar As Salaam school aims to preserve knowledge and teach through memorization every subject from Aqidah to Fiqh - not just Qur’an. This is the same methodology practiced by the early scholars including the four Imams of the Madhahib.
