Tayba Foundation "Freedom Through Education"
Over 12,000 Incarcerated Muslims Served. A group of dedicated Muslims have been teaching the incarcerated Muslims since 2002.

As their teaching efforts grew, the need to work as an organization became real and Tayba Foundation was founded in 2008.

2026 brought our biggest leap yet, digital courses that reached 28,000 new students wherever they are.

Knowledge shouldn’t have borders. Alhamdulillah, we’re getting closer to that every year.

Calling all Islamic publishers!

Tayba Foundation brings learning materials to incarcerated students nationwide, often the only Islamic education they have access to inside. Your books could reach someone learning to pray for the first time, or finding their way back to God. Or be the words that lead to someone saying shahada.

We partner with publishers to bring these materials onto learning tablets in facilities across the country.

A letter from one of our students stopped us in our tracks.

He’s been practicing Islam for almost 20 years. Still, after finishing our Intro to Islam course, he wrote that he was “sharpening his sword of knowledge” even at the basic levels. The section that moved him most was the path to God: repentance, taqwa, and persistence, three stages he’s now using as a framework for his own spiritual growth.

He also told us he’ll never be a scholar, but he’s a devoted student of knowledge, and that the Islamic scholarly tradition itself is what keeps him motivated,

Since March, incarcerated students have logged over 100,000 hours diving into digital Tayba courses and ebooks.
Every hour spent seeking knowledge is an hour that brings a person closer to Allah, in fulfillment of the words of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Sunan Ibn Majah 224) Education doesn’t stop at the gate, and neither does the reward of striving to learn.

Two men on the same road meet the same angel. One is a king — wealthy, powerful, and cruel to everyone under his rule. When the angel of death tells him his time is up, he begs for one more chance to make things right with his family and the people he's wronged. He's told no. The other is a poor man with almost nothing, known only for his kindness to his wife, his children, his neighbors. When the same angel comes for him, he asks for nothing. Sabr jameel is not beautiful silence. It is patience where your only complaint goes to Allah, not suppressed, just redirected. Yaqub AS said it when his sons brought the shirt. Then he explained it himself a few verses later. Read both together and the meaning locks into place. Save this before your next reading of Surah Yusuf.
