There's a line about Muslim Spain worth sitting with: it thrived when a merchant would tell a customer "go next door, they have a better version of this than I do," and it began to fall when merchants started saying "everyone else's product is bad, only buy from me," even when they knew that wasn't true. This shift in business ethics is used by scholars as a marker of a civilization's rise and decline. It's a small story with a much bigger point about honesty in trade, and it's the same principle behind a specific ruling in Islamic commercial law where a merchant would complete a sale on a neighboring shop's behalf out of that same spirit of goodwill.

Most people know Allah forgives. Surah Al-Furqan goes further, for those who sincerely repent, believe, and do righteous work, He replaces the evil deeds with good ones. The same record. Rewritten. This is يُبَدِّلُ, replacement. Save this and share it with someone who needs to know what coming back to Allah actually produces. (Quran 25:70)

Every few weeks, a letter arrives. The handwriting is familiar. The person writing it keeps surprising her, in the best way.

He quotes the Quran now. He asks about her health with a tenderness that wasn't always there. He writes about what he's learning and what it means to him, and she reads it twice because she wants to hold onto that feeling a little longer.

This is what happens when someone is given the chance to grow, even from inside prison walls. She didn't expect it, but she's grateful for every page.

The work Tayba Foundation does doesn't stay inside the walls. It reaches mothers, families, and homes. Share this with someone who needs a little hope today.

Muslim organizations across the country put their names on a joint statement this month responding to the anti-Muslim rhetoric coming out of Washington. Tayba is proud to be one of them. The statement we signed this month says American Muslims will keep contributing to this country freely and fearlessly. We believe that, and we see it every day in students who keep learning under conditions most people couldn’t imagine.

A donation to Tayba Foundation doesn't end with the book being sent.

It ends somewhere much further down a chain the donor never gets to see in a conversation between two men in a cell, in a letter that reaches a family, in a person who walks out different from who he walked in.

Share this with someone who hasn't given yet. Link in bio.

Abdullah ibn Masud RA volunteered to be the first to recite the Quran publicly in Mecca.

He was beaten for it. He kept reciting until he finished, came back with a bloodied face, and said he had never felt the enemies of Allah more contemptible than in that moment.

What he carried that day is still being transmitted.

Tag someone who needs to know this.

He got dressed two hours early. He pressed his uniform with his hands. His name was never called. He walked back to his cell and opened his book, because in a place where people don't always show up, it always does. Follow for more stories from inside.

This verse wasn't revealed for people who made manageable mistakes.

It was revealed for those who went far — الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا — and it begins by calling them "My servants" before anything else. The relationship is established before the door is opened.

Save this for someone who needs it. (Quran 39:53)
