Meet Stripes, our affectionate and fun girl. She is a long term resident and we don’t know why that is. The first thing she likes to do when she gets out of her kennel is use the scratch pad and then she crawls into your lap for cuddles. But, don’t try and stop petting her until SHE is done being loved on.

❤️ UKIAH SHELTER PET OF THE WEEK--GENTLE GIANT, BUFORD! ❤️ Buford is a handsome, 3-year-old Doberman weighing in at 80 pounds. Don’t let his size fool you—he’s a big sweetheart with an even bigger heart! This gentle giant loves being close to people and is happiest when he can be by your side. Buford is easy to take on walks, knows SIT, and happily offers his paw when you ask him to SHAKE. He has excellent indoor manners and a mellow personality that makes him a wonderful companion. His idea of a perfect day? Relaxing at home, staying close to his favorite people, and curling up for a peaceful nap right at your feet. Contrary to the negative junk-yard dog image portrayed of the breed, if you ask a Dobie-lover to describe their canine friend, many will say goofy, loyal, velcro, athletic, protective, intelligent. And—absolutely gorgeous! ❤️ To see all of our canine and feline, guests visit our website at mendoanimalshelter.com For information about adoptions please call 707-467-6453. ❤️ Making a difference for homeless pets in Mendocino County, one day at a time! ❤️ TO HELP OUR GUESTS FIND FOREVER HOMES, PLEASE SHARE OUR POSTS!

Today we are celebrating the 8th annual National Make A Dog’s Day, a day created by Subaru to encourage all dog lovers to do something special for their dog.

Again this year, we are also asking people to consider welcoming an Underdog into their home and their hearts, as a life-changing way to ‘Make a Dog’s Day’.

We’re proud to be one of the many shelters celebrating this October. Here at Ukiah Animal Shelter, we are partnering with to find loving homes for local pets in need. Learn more about the initiative at

❤️ Meet our girl Tess 🐾

A team member took Tess for a long walk today and this is what she had to say,

“The weather was perfect today so I took Tess on a very long walk and she really enjoyed herself and got to sniff til her heart was content 😊🐾

Tess is just the sweetest girl who walks good on a leash, has the most gorgeous eyes, always behaves perfectly, keeps her kennel SO clean, and has so much more to offer. Shes the full package, I can’t believe she hasn’t found her forever home yet 🥺”

Come to the shelter and meet this girl. She was in a foster home , was well behaved, played with the other dogs in the home and did well with young children.

We will be at Fowler Subaru

Trapped and back home. Yay! ❤️🐾

Hulk was adopted recently and got out of his yard. He has been out since last Friday, October 16th and we want to get him back home. If you see Hulk (now named Dozer), please contact me or Greg Stanley with location. A trap is set so DO NOT CALL HIM OR CHASE. If you get him in your yard that would be great and we will get him as quick as we can. Was last seen in Brooktrails on Ridge Rd.

Thank you! 😊
