Meals on Wheels (Lee County, MS)

Meals on Wheels (Lee County, MS) helping our elderly community stay home longer Recipients must be at least 62 years of age, homebound, and unable to prepare a daily, well-balanced meal.

Our goal is to provide nutritious meals in order to help elders in our community maintain independence in their own homes for as long as possible. The meals address both physical hunger while also providing loving human contact for those who are often also lonely.

Meals on Wheels volunteers do far more than deliver a meal. They deliver a friendly face, a quick check-in, and a reminder to homebound older adults in Lee County that their community cares about them.
We currently have volunteer openings for the second Monday and Wednesday of each month, and we are also looking for substitute drivers who can help fill in when regular route drivers are unavailable.
Just a little bit of your time can make a very big difference in someone’s day.
If you would like to learn more about volunteering with Meals on Wheels, please contact us. We would love to have you join our team. Call 662-231-1614 or email [email protected]

Exciting News from Meals on Wheels of Lee County!

We’re thrilled to announce that Meals on Wheels of Lee County has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Night for Nonprofits event hosted by LEAD, the Lee County affiliate of the CREATE Foundation.

This incredible support will help Meals on Wheels of Lee County open "Serving Grace," a new resale thrift store located at the Tupelo Furniture Market. Proceeds from Serving Grace will go directly toward the mission of delivering meals and love to homebound seniors across Lee County.

Since 1972, it is estimated that Meals on Wheels of Lee County has served more than 1 million meals, and this year we are on track to deliver approximately 35,000 meals in the area. With "Serving Grace Resale," we’ll have a steady, sustainable way to continue feeding our neighbors while also giving the community a place to shop, donate, and connect with our mission.

We can’t wait to open our doors in mid-November just in time for the holiday season!

Thank you to LEAD, the CREATE Foundation, and all who support local nonprofits making a difference every day. Together, we’re building a stronger, more caring Lee County!

Exciting News for Meals on Wheels of Lee County!

We are thrilled to share that donations of furniture and household goods are resuming, and even MORE EXCITING, we have been blessed with a new retail space at Tupelo Furniture Market! 🎉

This is a tremendous opportunity to continue generating the much-needed funding that makes Meals on Wheels possible. Right here in Lee County, 162 homebound senior adults depend on a hot meal five days a week... that’s more than 35,000 meals served annually at no cost to the recipients.

Community donations make this mission possible, and this storefront will play a key role in sustaining and growing our efforts. We received the keys today, and our amazing volunteers are already rolling up their sleeves to prep the space for incoming donations!

We can’t wait to welcome you, our generous community, into this new chapter. Stay tuned for details on store hours, donation drop-offs, and how you can help make a difference.

Together, we are feeding hope and serving love – one meal, one senior, one donation at a time.

Update from Meals on Wheels of Lee County:

To our generous community, thank you. Your donations of furniture, clothing, and household items have truly made a difference in helping us serve homebound seniors across Lee County.

At this time, we are pausing the acceptance of donated goods due to limited storage space. This decision allows us to better steward your support and prepare for a more sustainable plan in the near future.

In the meantime, your monetary gifts and volunteer time continue to be the heart of our mission, helping us deliver meals, care, and companionship to those who need it most.

Thank you for standing with us. Your kindness nourishes more than just bodies, it lifts spirits.

📢 Meals on Wheels Thrift Store Needs Your Help!
We’re growing — and running out of space!

To continue serving the entire Lee County community, we urgently need a local room or building to expand our thrift store operations. As you know, Meals on Wheels thrives through community donations, and a larger space would allow us to raise even more funds to support this vital program.

If you know of any properties available for lease or donation that work with nonprofits, please reach out or share this message.

Meals on Wheels of Lee County, an outreach ministry of Mississippi Methodist Senior Services, is truly grateful for the $50,000 grant from E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation.

On July 8, 2025, John Richter, Division Manager for Carpenter Company, and Jeremy Gardner, Sales Representative for Carpenter Company, presented the check to Ashley McDaniel, Executive Director for Meals on Wheels of Lee County.

Five days a week, over a hundred senior adults in Lee county area experience hot, nutritional meals delivered by volunteers.

Volunteers’ visits are more than delivering a hot meal. They provide smiles, hugs, and safety checks.
