🌱 A BIG THANK YOU to Eastside Urban Farm & Garden Store!

We’re so grateful to our friends at Eastside Urban Farm & Garden for their generous gift card donation to Thurston County Inclusion Summer Camp!

Thanks to their support, we were able to purchase the succulents, soil, and supplies needed for a fun, hands-on gardening activity! 🪴

During Week 1, participants got creative decorating their own custom planters using Mod Podge and fabric. Then, in Week 4, we brought those planters back out for the next step—creating their very own personalized succulent gardens!

Participants chose from a variety of succulents, added soil, planted their selections, and created a one-of-a-kind garden to bring home. We loved watching their creations come full circle!

This activity wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of Eastside Urban Farm & Garden Store. Thank you for helping us provide creative, meaningful, and inclusive experiences for our Summer Camp participants!

🌱 Be sure to check them out and shop local!

Sharing the Resource and Page of our friend Skylar, who has put together an amazing website and guide for local families! Please give the page a follow and check out the webiste: https://nonbinarysky.wordpress.com/

"This guide highlights calm, low‑pressure, and sensory‑aware activities across Pierce and Thurston County. Many listings feature museums and other gentle spaces, along with community events such as craft fairs and markets that offer a relaxed atmosphere and low‑stakes participation. Higher‑energy activities are included when they provide meaningful accessibility support, such as caregiver access or sensory‑friendly hours."

July is Disability Pride month!

Mr. Skylar's Calm Community Guide is a resource created to help people discover calm, sensory-friendly, and accessible activities across Pierce and Thurston counties.

I created this guide with care to highlight accessible museums, parks, libraries, markets, community events, and more. It also includes higher-energy events that offer sensory-friendly hours, caregiver accommodations, or other accessibility supports.

Growing through community input, this guide is designed specifically for people with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, caregivers, and anyone looking for a more comfortable way to explore local events. Everyone is welcome!

I would be incredibly grateful if you could help promote this guide to anyone who might benefit from it. You can encourage your network to find their next accessible adventure by visiting:

Website: www.nonbinarysky.wordpress.com

Facebook: www.facebook.com/mrskylarsguide

I have also attached a flyer with a QR code that can be easily shared in newsletters, on social media, or posted on community boards.

Thank you so much for your time and for helping make our community more inclusive and accessible!
