From the Curator: A Brewery on Wheels!

Did you know that Olympia Brewing Company purchased Hamm’s B**r in 1975?

This vintage truck, owned by Twin City Sales in Minneapolis–St. Paul, brought “refrigerated draught b**r” right to customers!

It's a fun glimpse into brewing history and a reminder of how Olympia's hometown brewery became part of a much larger b**r legacy.

The Olympia Tumwater Foundation (OTF), in its efforts to expand and enhance education programs in Thurston County, provides educators with funds to implement and administer learning opportunities beyond their programs' basic funding. The application deadline is October 19th, 2026, and the Foundation will notify grantees the first week of November.

🍺 Another Oly can spotted in the wild — and this one was BIG!

Thanks to everyone who has been sharing their Olympia B**r finds with us. Ken Rivers sent in this fascinating piece of Oly history: a giant Oly can that once transformed a water tower at the Hyak ski area at Snoqualmie.

Ken tells us the water tower is still there today, although it appears to have been painted all white.

🌹 One last weekend to stop and smell the roses!

The roses at the Schmidt House Centennial Rose Garden will be pruned back for winter next week, which means this weekend is your last chance to enjoy the garden in bloom this year.

Located on the grounds of the historic Schmidt House in Tumwater, the Centennial Rose Garden has been a community treasure since it was dedicated in 1989 as a Washington Centennial project. The garden features both modern, everblooming roses and heritage varieties similar to those that would have been popular when Washington became a state.

The garden is lovingly cared for by the Friends of the Centennial Rose Garden, a dedicated group of volunteers who help preserve this beautiful space for visitors, community events, weddings and more.
