Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the Hillside Park Baptist Church Car Show, and what a wonderful day it was! 🚗☀️

I had so much fun spending time with my fellow sister queens and our incredible committee members. We enjoyed delicious hot dogs, ice-cold sodas, ice cream, and snow cones while making memories together throughout the day. We even got to bring out our inner kids by jumping in the bounce castle and racing down the giant slide!

One of my favorite parts of the day was walking around, speaking with attendees, and admiring the beautiful collection of classic cars on display. It was such a joy to connect with members of the community and learn about the stories behind these amazing vehicles.

A special thank you to Hillside Park Baptist Church for so graciously hosting our mock interviews yesterday. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to practice and grow as titleholders. Thank you as well to Senior Pastor Dr. Steven Chipps for taking the time to make an appearance and serve as one of our mock interview judges. Your encouragement, insight, and support mean so much to all of us.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day so memorable. It was a perfect combination of community, fellowship, fun, and preparation, and I am so thankful to have been a part of it!

Tonight, I had the sweetest opportunity to attend the Golden Prime Prom hosted by Thomasville Parks & Recreation alongside Davidson County Senior Services and the Thomasville Family YMCA. 💃✨

What an incredible evening filled with laughter, dancing, music, and so many smiling faces. It was truly heartwarming to see everyone dressed up, enjoying themselves, and making such special memories together. Events like these are such a beautiful reminder that joy, friendship, and celebration have no age limit.

A huge thank you to Steve Teglas for hosting this wonderful event at the Thomasville Women’s Club and to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the night so special. It was an honor to dance the night away with such an amazing group of people! 🤍🪩

On Sunday evening, I had the privilege of attending the Blue Star Dinner, where I was able to welcome guests and their families as they arrived. As we reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day, it is important to also recognize our Blue Star Families — those who currently have loved ones serving our nation. Their sacrifices, strength, and unwavering support are a vital part of our military community, and it was an honor to spend the evening among them.

Following the dinner, I had the opportunity to attend the 208th Army Band Concert. From the powerful musical performances to the inspiring speakers and talented vocalists, every moment was truly incredible. The evening served as a reminder of the patriotism, pride, and dedication that unite our communities in honoring those who serve and have served our country.

One of my favorite parts of the evening was greeting guests as they arrived and helping make them feel welcomed. Being able to connect with so many individuals and families throughout Memorial Day weekend has been such a meaningful experience.

Thank you to everyone who made this special evening possible and for allowing me to be a small part of such a memorable celebration of service, sacrifice, and community. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

As Memorial Day weekend comes to a close, my heart is incredibly full. 🇺🇸❤️

It was such an honor to serve as a presence throughout the many events held across Thomasville this weekend and to witness firsthand the deep respect and appreciation our community holds for this meaningful holiday.

From ceremonies and gatherings to hearing personal stories of sacrifice and service, every moment served as a reminder of the true meaning behind Memorial Day — honoring and remembering the brave men and women who gave their lives fighting for our country and our freedom. Their sacrifice is something we must never forget.

The overwhelming support shown by this community for our veterans, active-duty military, Gold Star families, and those we have lost was truly inspiring.

A heartfelt thank you to the Memorial Day Weekend Committee for including us throughout this special weekend. Your dedication to honoring our nation’s heroes does not go unnoticed. Thank you as well to Mayor York for always being so welcoming and for allowing us to be involved in such meaningful events each year — it is always a pleasure seeing you.

Most importantly, thank you to all who currently serve, have served, and to the families who stand beside them. Your courage, sacrifice, and love for this country are the reason we are able to enjoy the freedoms we hold so dearly today.

This weekend brought so many heartfelt conversations and unforgettable connections with some truly amazing people. I will carry these memories and stories with me for a very long time. ❤️🤍💙

Saturday evening, I had the privilege of attending the Gathering of the Warriors Dinner, an event dedicated to honoring our Gold Star Families — those who have experienced the unimaginable sacrifice of losing a loved one in service to our nation.

One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was having the opportunity to meet these families, hear their personal stories, and learn about the remarkable men and women whose legacies continue to live on through them. Their strength, resilience, and unwavering love serve as a powerful reminder that freedom is never free.

With Memorial Day upon us, this event held even greater significance. While we gather with family and friends this weekend, it is important that we also pause to remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice and the families who continue to carry their memory forward each and every day.

Thank you to the Gold Star Families for sharing your stories and allowing us to honor the lives of your loved ones. Their service, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸❤️

Honored to attend the Vietnam Memorial Wall Ceremony and reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

This day serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who answered the call to serve our country. As someone with a family member whose name is displayed on the memorial wall alongside more than 1,600 others, this experience felt especially close to home. Seeing those names etched into history was a moving reminder that freedom is never free and that every name represents a life, a family, and a legacy of service.

I was also privileged to meet Sergeant Idol, a Purple Heart recipient, and hear his personal stories of courage, sacrifice, and resilience. Listening to his experiences brought history to life in a way that no textbook ever could.

Another highlight was the opportunity to hold a Revolutionary War-era rifle and learn about the preservation process for historic gun casings, including how they are carefully recovered, cleaned, and maintained for future generations. These hands-on experiences provided a deeper appreciation for the men and women who have served throughout our nation’s history.

As Miss Davidson County, I am grateful for opportunities like this that allow us to honor our veterans, remember our fallen heroes, and ensure their stories continue to be told. Today and every day, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.🇺🇸❤️

Today was unforgettable advocating at the legislature with the American Heart Association for two incredibly important initiatives: the Smart Heart Act (SB 278) and Telecommunicator-CPR training🫀

It was inspiring to learn more about the “Smart Heart Sports Coalition,” a partnership between the NFL, the American Heart Association, and Damar Hamlin’s Chasing M’s Foundation that helps schools and youth sports organizations purchase FDA-approved AEDs at a 20–60% discount. Hearing about the life-saving impact of AED accessibility made this mission feel even more urgent. It was also an honor to have Denny Kellington in attendance — the NFL trainer whose quick action and CPR helped save Damar Hamlin’s life.

One of the sweetest moments of the day was getting to see my good friend, Sophia Kellstrom, Miss North Carolina. And finally meeting the inspiring “AED Girl,” Adeline. She is truly doing amazing work raising awareness about the importance of AEDs and cardiac emergency preparedness. I felt so honored to be able to personally gift her a copy of my children’s book, The Super Heart Heroes❤️

I was also grateful to reconnect with members of the American Heart Association Triad chapter and partner with Joe and Marc as we met with legislators to advocate for stronger cardiac emergency preparedness in our schools and communities.

Hearing the powerful personal stories shared throughout the day and seeing so many people unite around this mission was incredibly moving. With more than 23,000 children experiencing cardiac arrest outside of hospitals each year, this is an issue we simply cannot ignore — especially when schools are truly the nucleus of our communities.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to use my voice for a cause that saves lives.

❤️ HEART TALK SERIES | MEET EMILY ❤️

May is Women’s Health Month, making Emily’s story an important reminder of how quickly postpartum recovery can change — and why listening to your body matters.

At just 25 years old, Emily underwent a routine C-section and delivered a healthy baby girl. But shortly after surgery, she developed atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition where the heart’s upper chambers beat in an irregular and often rapid rhythm.

AFib can feel like a racing heart, fluttering in the chest, dizziness, shortness of breath, or extreme fatigue. In some cases, it may not cause noticeable symptoms at all — which is why it can go undetected without proper monitoring.

While atrial fibrillation is most common in older adults, especially those over 65, it can occasionally occur in younger patients when the body is under significant stress. Surgery, inflammation, hormonal shifts, blood loss, pain, dehydration, and lack of sleep after childbirth can all contribute to temporary heart rhythm disturbances.

Doctors responded quickly, monitoring Emily closely and initiating treatment to stabilize her heart rhythm. Management options for AFib can include medications to control heart rate or rhythm, blood thinners to reduce stroke risk, and in some cases procedures like cardioversion, which uses a controlled electrical shock to restore normal rhythm. For recurrent cases, catheter ablation may be considered to target and correct the abnormal electrical pathways in the heart.

Fortunately, Emily’s episode was determined to be temporary and related to postoperative stress rather than chronic heart disease. After thorough evaluation, she was cleared of any ongoing atrial fibrillation and did not require long-term treatment.

Her experience is a reminder that postpartum recovery is not always predictable — and that symptoms like heart palpitations, chest discomfort, or unusual fatigue should always be taken seriously.

In recognition of Women’s Health Month, her story highlights the importance of awareness, early intervention, and advocating for your health when something doesn’t feel right.
