: Earlier this month, we hosted our 47th Annual Conference – Partners in Possibilities: Building Brighter Futures Together. More than 300 special education professionals, advocates, and families gathered for a day filled with practical strategies, inspiring ideas and meaningful connections.

This year’s event featured outstanding subject-matter experts at dynamic sessions and Collaborative Conversations focused on today’s most pressing topics, including classroom management, family collaboration and engagement, emotional regulation, school safety and the school environment, transition services, assistive technologies and more.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s conference such a success!

October is full of opportunities to raise awareness. 💙

From Down Syndrome Awareness Month, Dyslexia Awareness Month, ADHD Awareness Month, and National Disability Employment Awareness Month to World Cerebral Palsy Day, Invisible Disabilities Week, and more, October recognizes many of the experiences, strengths, and challenges of people with disabilities.

There’s no way to give every observance its own spotlight, but each one matters.

At NJASEPS, we recognize that supporting individuals with disabilities means more than acknowledging a day on the calendar. It means continuing to promote understanding, advocate for meaningful opportunities, and celebrate the unique strengths of every individual throughout the year.

Awareness doesn't stop when the calendar turns.

NJASEPS was proud to represent our member schools, the students and staff they support, and the families they serve at the October 15 Assembly Education Committee meeting, where testimony was heard on A1317 regarding restraint and seclusion. No vote was taken, as further discussion and work on the bill are needed.

Our focus remains clear: protecting students, promoting safety, and ensuring every child’s individual needs remain at the center of the conversation.

**October is Learning Disabilities Awareness Month!**

Every student learns differently, and understanding those differences can make a lasting impact.

Learning disabilities can affect how students read, write, process information, or approach learning, but they do not define a student’s potential. With the right strategies, individualized support, and a team of dedicated professionals, students can build skills, grow in confidence, and reach their goals.

This month, we recognize the students, families, educators, and specialists who work together to support learning and celebrate progress in all its forms.

Featuring Stephanie, Tracy, and Rachel, this session is part of an exciting lineup of concurrent sessions bringing leaders together to share perspectives, strengthen advocacy, and advance the field of special education.

This workshop highlights the collaborative leadership and advocacy efforts of the New Jersey CASA of NAPSEC through the work of the New Jersey Association of Special Education Partner Schools (NJASEPS). Participants will explore how statewide professional organizations can advance high-quality special education services through coordinated advocacy, strong governance structures, strategic planning, and meaningful stakeholder engagement. Designed for special education leaders, the session examines how organizations can influence policy, strengthen program quality, and remain responsive to the evolving needs of students with disabilities and their families.

October is **National Disability Employment Awareness Month!**

This month, we recognize the contributions of workers with disabilities and the importance of creating meaningful employment opportunities for everyone.

For students with disabilities, preparing for life after school includes building the skills, confidence, and experiences needed to pursue their goals and explore future careers. Through transition planning and individualized support, special education programs help students work toward greater independence and meaningful participation in their communities.
