đźš’ From One Firehouse to Another đźš’
There’s something special about the brotherhood and sisterhood of the fire service. No matter where we come from, when the call comes, the answer is always the same: “I’ll be there.”
Today we had the pleasure of meeting Justin Shaulis, President of Union Fire Company No. 1 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Justin was vacationing nearby at Acadia National Park when he reached out and asked if he could stop by our firehouse—or, as we simply call it, “our house.”
We had never met before, and our departments are hundreds of miles apart, serving very different communities with different hazards. But it didn’t take long to realize how much common ground we share—from the challenges facing the fire service to the camaraderie, service, and sense of purpose that keep us coming back.
That’s one of the great things about the fire service: you can walk into a firehouse hundreds of miles from home as a stranger and leave as a friend.
Justin, it was great meeting you and talking shop. Thanks for taking some time out of your vacation to stop by Trenton!
And to our fellow firefighters—if you ever find yourself in our neck of the woods, reach out. You’re always welcome at our house. 🚒❤️
