That's the 1st Trenton Volunteer Fire Department Blueberry Pancake Breakfast of the Summer and Kevin Hallett's last behind the grill as he retires from the fire department after 39 years! It would be great to pack the firehouse to say thanks for all that he has done!

Five years ago, we lost a giant in our community. The weight of losing Retired Chief Kelton Muise still resonates deeply with the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department and the entire Hancock County fire family.

Chief Muise was a cornerstone of our service for decades. His dedication was unmatched, serving in various roles within the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, including leading as Chief for a remarkable 33 years. Beyond the station, he was a steady force and a leader within the Hancock County Firefighters Association.

He was more than just a leader; he was a friend and a mentor to countless firefighters who looked up to his guidance. His influence shaped generations of responders in our area.

Though five years have passed, the void he left is still felt every day. We honor his legacy by continuing the work he loved and upholding the standards he set. We will do our best to carry on his legacy.

Rest in Peace, Chief. You will never be forgotten.

As spring arrives, please remember to use caution when disposing of ashes, operating grills, and conducting outdoor burning. With drier conditions returning, even small sparks can quickly turn into larger fires. Check alarms regularly and report any gas odors immediately.

Our Trenton crew representing at the FDIC conference in Indianapolis—rubbing elbows (and sharing a few laughs) with the absolute legends behind Fire Department Coffee. Not a bad way to spend time at the biggest conference in the fire service.

TVFD Captain Bill Malcolm and Firefighter Will Renault have arrived at FDIC (Fire Department Instructors Conference)—the “Super Bowl of firefighting.” This premier event brings together tens of thousands of fire service professionals from across the country for hands-on training and cutting-edge education.

Even at a conference of this scale, it’s a small world—Bill and Will quickly ran into local legend Lisa Burton of Maine Maritime Academy Fire Training, who also serves as our region’s representative with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

We’re proud to have our members representing Trenton Fire, investing in their professional development, and bringing back valuable knowledge to better serve our community. 🔥

The lithium-ion battery in this RC car erupted in flames in the owner's home not long ago, and he generously donated the remains to us for educational purposes. By his account, it took three fire extinguishers to fully put out the flames and reignited after initial suppression. Fortunately, the fire didn't spread. Damaged, defective, and recalled batteries can be a serious fire hazard, and the bigger the battery the bigger the danger.
