Information for the public.
So far this year we have received $18,231 in adoption fees. Sounds okay right?
Now, so far this year we have spent a little over $30,000 in medical costs.
Now the math doesn't add up does it?

Every year we spend at least double on medical costs than we make on adoption fees. We do not receive funding, as you know, so in order to keep saving dogs like we do, we need the public's help. We had almost 300 adoptions last year and we would love to beat that this year!
All of our donations go towards our medical costs, as some of our dogs cost us several thousands of dollars, but yet their adoption fee remains the same as the rest. We have poured our hearts and souls into saving dogs and we want to do it as long as we possibly can. We love each and everyone of them so much. Thank you all for your continued support!

We have been talking about the changes to our hours.
It looks like, starting this weekend:
We will be closed on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Mon, Wed, Thurs and Sat: 9-4.
Fridays: 9-2:30.
If you are interested in adopting, you can call and make an appointment. We can be available on the closed days for that.
Volunteering: Please call (423-760-7922) or email ([email protected]) and let us know ahead of time. That just helps us prepare better and if its not a good day (weather or short staffed), we can let you know.
Due to us not knowing how long our dedicated founder will be out, we may keep this schedule until next year. If in doubt, just call before 4. No one will have the work phone after that time.

Not at the shelter. Call 423-269-3173

Hotrod is ~2 years old
He is a mixed breed and is currently not fixed, but has an appointment at Chattaneuter 8/24/2026 - I will ask this appointment cost be covered (150$) as it was payed already and he be taken to the appointment.
Hotrod is extremely active and friendly. He loves people but likes to lick, he will sit to be pet and he just loves attention. He comes when you call and he waits before exiting doors/eating his food for his release command ("ok!") He LOVES to run and play with other dogs, however he can get rough when he plays. He does get into trash if left around it due to his previous life. He can get possesive over toys if youre playing tug/fetch, he will drop it, however, he will go back after it before you can pick it up/throw it and sometimes jump on you. As for treats I suggest tossing them, he gets very excited. He also gets extremely excited when someone pulls in, he hears you, etc - he is very vocal unless he has access to be around what youre doing.
He is an outdoor dog but that does not mean he can't be trained to be indoors, he just likes to mark his bedding territory and prefers to be in the grass/dirt - he has had houses/beds but he chews them up.
If youd like to know more about him and his personality contact me (Rayne) at 423-269-3173 via text or call.
