The HOUSING HUB is an aspiring 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to providing new, affordable housing to residents in the South Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee and preparing future and current homeowners to both acquire and maintain a safe and healthy home, while also developing a sustainable workforce in our local communities. We do this with financial support from generous donors, wonderfully energet

ic volunteers, and strategic partnerships. We believe that by providing mentoring guidance to navigate the challenges of becoming a homeowner, and creative home building solutions, anyone can be a homeowner.

🛠️ Workforce Wednesday Update! 🏡

Our pre-apprentices have spent the past week building skills and confidence through OSHA safety training, basic carpentry, hands-on tool experience, and discovering their unique strengths. They're already putting those skills to work by helping build the porches at House 3!

House #3 is more than a construction project. It's where all three parts of Housing Hub's mission come together.

Scheduled for completion at the end of 2026, this quality, affordable home will create a pathway to homeownership for a local family currently preparing for purchase through our housing coaching program. At the same time, participants in our Building Opportunities pre-apprenticeship program will help build the home while gaining hands-on experience and valuable trade skills.

By weaving together affordable housing, homeownership preparation, and workforce development, House #3 is creating opportunity on multiple levels, helping a future homeowner achieve stability while preparing the next generation of skilled tradespeople for rewarding careers.

Today we're celebrating the launch of our new 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 program!

Over the next 12 weeks, our inaugural cohort of three participants will gain hands-on experience in residential construction while developing the personal and professional skills needed to launch successful careers in the trades.

Through on-the-job training, they'll work alongside Mountain T.O.P. on home repair projects and help complete the construction of House #3, creating a lasting impact for local families and our community.

This program is about more than learning a trade. It's about opening doors, building confidence, and creating pathways to meaningful employment.

Back in February, we came together with a shared goal: to develop a strategic housing plan that will help communities and organizations across Grundy County address local housing needs and create opportunities for the future.

Now we're at an important stage of the process: 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽!

We're working to hear from as many people across Grundy County as possible because your experiences, concerns, and ideas matter. Whether you've lived here your whole life or just recently made Grundy County home, we want to hear from you.

We want to give a big thank you to Tom and Brian for spending yesterday on site with Cody, helping move our current home under construction closer to its next inspection.

Projects like this don't happen because of one person or one organization. They happen because community members show up, share their skills, and invest in the future of their neighbors. Every volunteer hour helps bring us one step closer to welcoming a family into a safe, affordable home.

Housing Hub is now enrolling for the Building Opportunities Pre‑Apprenticeship Program — a 12‑week, 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 training experience that blends hands‑on construction work with one day a week of classroom learning. Trainees earn $15/hr, gain real job‑site experience, and finish with industry‑recognized credentials that open doors in the trades.
