At Housing Hub, we’re tackling that reality head‑on. Our mission brings together two powerful needs in our community: 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 and 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴‑𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀. It’s a double win — stability for families and a stronger local workforce for years to come.

We’re also proud to be part of 𝗙𝗮𝗵𝗲, a network of regional housing leaders committed to building, rehabilitating, and creating real solutions to the housing challenges facing our communities. Together, we’re not backing down from the challenge of making homeownership possible for the people who keep our county running.

The Housing Hub’s newest two-bedroom, one-bathroom cottage will have 864 sq ft of living space, but its actual footprint will be much larger. That’s because the organization has set out to prove it can build an affordable home without any government subsidies.

We’re especially proud of this build because it’s our first Building Opportunities Home, where our pre‑apprenticeship cohort participants will help with the finishing work.

Housing Hub is now enrolling for the Building Opportunities Pre‑Apprenticeship Program — a 12‑week, 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗱 training experience that blends hands‑on construction work with one day a week of classroom learning. Trainees earn $15/hr, gain real job‑site experience, and finish with industry‑recognized credentials that open doors in the trades.

Since February, this group has gathered every month to share their insight, experience, and heart for strengthening housing across our county. Last night they met with our consultant, Sweet Grass Consulting, as we continue building a strategy shaped by real community voices. 🤎What a day at the Helpers Festival!

We loved spending Saturday surrounded by so many neighbors, volunteers, and organizations who care deeply about Grundy County. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘂𝗽, 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲.
