🌍 World Occupational Therapy Day 2026: Participation Matters! 🇭🇹
Today, we celebrate the impact of occupational therapy in Haiti and the dedicated professionals who help people with disabilities participate more fully in their communities.
In this video, Kemberlie Sanon, an occupational therapy graduate of FSRL Faculté Des Sciences De Réhabilitation De Léogâne UNEPH, shares a glimpse of her work at Fondation Haitienne de Réhabilitation (FONHARE) in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. Her work reflects the heart of occupational therapy: helping people build skills, overcome barriers, and engage more fully in everyday life.
Founded in 2011 in response to the growing need for rehabilitation services following Haiti’s devastating 2010 earthquake, FONHARE works to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in society. Its mission extends beyond rehabilitation to include public education about disability and the rights of persons with disabilities, women, and children.
This is what Participation Matters looks like in action: empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for everyone to participate in meaningful daily activities.
At Haiti Rehabilitation Foundation, we are proud to support FSRL and the education of Haitian occupational therapists and physical therapists who are making a difference in their communities. Kemberlie’s work is a wonderful example of how locally trained rehabilitation professionals are helping advance inclusion, dignity, and opportunity throughout Haiti.
👏 Join us in celebrating Kemberlie and all the occupational therapy practitioners in Haiti and around the world who make participation possible!
