Topic 2: Developing an Assessment Culture for Teachers and Students
✨ NEW!

What if assessment became more than something we do to students and instead became a shared process that supports continuous learning?

In this new topic, participants will build a shared vision for assessment that promotes continuous learning, student ownership, and collaborative instructional practices.

Participants will explore how to:
πŸ“Š Use data protocols to examine evidence of student learning
🎯 Identify instructional next steps based on evidence
πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Involve students in understanding their own assessment data
🌱 Support students in setting goals and reflecting on their progress

This topic is all about creating an assessment culture where teachers and students use evidence of learning to inform what comes next.

Edgar Data Retreat πŸ”₯

What a great way to ignite change and create impact! CESA 9's Arrin Truax and Ryan McCain recently led the Edgar School District leadership team through their annual Data Retreat. Throughout the retreat, the team dug into data to better understand where students are succeeding and where opportunities for growth remain. They focused on asking good questions, challenging assumptions, learning from one another, and identifying what deserves their attention moving forward.

From finding the sparks that inspire us, to adding logs that keep the work moving, identifying practices that should spread like wildfire, and committing to carry the flame forward, one message was clear...continuous improvement is work we do together.

And the learning didn’t stop with the data! The team also made time to build relationships, enjoy some s’mores 🍫, and connect around the campfire in their camping chairs. Sometimes the best conversations happen when we slow down, gather together, and step outside the usual setting.

Thank you, Edgar Wildcats, for bringing your curiosity, collaboration, and commitment to students, and thank you, Arrin and Ryan, for creating a space where the team could learn together, connect together, and grow together.

πŸ”₯ Ignite Change. Create Impact.
