Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, INC We provide advanced life support to the residents and visitors of the Towns of Ticonderoga, Crown Point, Putnam, and surrounding communities. Carter, G.

Proudly serving since 1949. Chartered on March 17, 1949, the Ticonderoga Emergency Squad was founded by a dedicated group of community members committed to improving access to emergency medical care. Our original charter members — D. Wendell, C. Mattison, J. Goodrow, C. Curtis, A. McCaughin, J. Crammond, K. Brannock, J. DeLorm, J. Coley, D. Coley, and G. Fuller—laid the foundation for a service that has grown significantly over the decades. In our earliest days, emergency calls were answered using hearses as ambulances, with volunteers delivering basic first aid and CPR. For many years, the squad operated entirely on volunteer efforts, reflecting the deep-rooted spirit of service in our community. Today, Ticonderoga Emergency Squad is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization delivering cutting-edge Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to the Towns of Ticonderoga, Putnam, and Crown Point. We also provide mutual aid to neighboring communities. Our team consists of both volunteer and paid professionals, working together to ensure 24/7 emergency medical coverage for the region. While our capabilities and technology have evolved, our commitment to community care and service remains as strong as ever.

CROWN POINT | How much are quality and reliable EMS services worth? That is the conundrum Crown Point residents are facing. Town of Crown Point Supervisor Clayton Menser is looking elsewhere for contracted EMS services for next year after receiving the quote for 2027 from Ticonderoga EMS of $157,700...

ATTENTION CROWN POINT RESIDENTS WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

The Town of Crown Point is considering contracting with another ambulance service rather than continuing its partnership with Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, INC. We encourage residents to attend the October 8 Town Board meeting to learn more and make your voices heard.

Ticonderoga EMS is a shared service between Ticonderoga, Crown Point, and Putnam. By working together, the three towns share the cost of maintaining a staffed, equipped, and ready ambulance service 24/7.

Those costs are not simply divided equally. Each town’s contribution is based largely on its call volume and use of the EMS system. Crown Point’s proposed funding reflects its share of calls and the cost of maintaining the personnel, ambulances, equipment, and Advanced Life Support capabilities needed to respond when an emergency occurs.

There is also important financial assistance available. Due to changes in Essex County’s EMS Stabilization Plan, the County will reimburse municipalities for a portion of the funding they provide to support EMS using occupancy/bed-tax revenue. This recognizes that our EMS system doesn’t serve only local taxpayers, tourists and visitors also rely on emergency services and should share in the cost of maintaining them.

Our partnership with Crown Point goes beyond ambulance response. We plan to work with Crown Point first responders to provide training and help maintain their EMS certifications locally. Crown Point also has a designated seat on our Board of Directors, which is currently vacant and waiting to be filled once a new contract is established.

If Crown Point changes its ambulance service arrangement, we would work with the town and neighboring agencies to review how mutual aid would function. We remain committed to helping when we can, while making sure we can meet our 24/7 coverage commitments to Ticonderoga and Putnam.

We believe three neighboring communities sharing resources based on their need remains the most cost-effective way to provide reliable, high-quality emergency medical care.

If you support continuing Crown Point’s partnership with Ticonderoga EMS, please attend the October 8 Town Board meeting and make your voice heard.

Three communities. One EMS system ready when you need us.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am proud to announce that Ticonderoga Emergency Squad, INC had ZERO violations during a comprehensive inspection conducted this week by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of EMS.

The inspection is extensive and reviews numerous areas of our operation, including required records and documentation, ambulance equipment and supplies, expiration dates, and the overall condition and readiness of our ambulances and facilities.

The inspector noted:

“The staff that were present were helpful, and made the inspection process go smoothly. The members take pride in their agency and vehicles.”

Receiving a clean inspection is a reflection of the hard work that happens every day behind the scenes. It demonstrates the professionalism, attention to detail, and pride our team puts into keeping our organization and equipment ready to respond when our communities need us.

This is a testament to the level of service we strive to provide to Ticonderoga, Crown Point, and Putnam. We are fortunate to have a hardworking and dedicated team of employees and volunteers who take tremendous pride in their work, our organization, and most importantly, the communities and people we serve.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you to our entire team for your continued dedication and a job well done!
