September is also Su***de Prevention Month.
If you didn't know- we get to visit schools and talk to students about what it is to feel sad, depressed, hopeless, and in despair. We get to talk to them about how to get help- what help looks like, and how to be a friend to someone else who may be struggling.
A few things about su***de that you may not know:
👉 Sextortion is the leading cause of su***de in teenage boys.
👉 Of all addictions, gambling hold the highest su***de risk.
👉 When someone is in a mental health crisis, 10 minutes can be enough time to break the intention of harm.
👉 Children are more likely to confide in adults, Teens are more likely to confide in other teens about mental health challenges.
How do we talk to our kids about depression? su***de? addiction? When do we start? What do emphasize? Not sure? Let us strategize with you.
