There’s a lot happening on and around the Wabash River right now! 🚣💙💚

While work continues on our new boathouse, another important piece of Wabash Valley Crew’s future is getting ready to hit the water... our new coach’s boat!

This isn’t just any boat. Its unique design gives our coaches a better vantage point to observe rowers during practice, provide instruction, and safely accompany crews while they’re on the water.

And, like so much of what is happening with WVC right now, getting it ready has been a true community effort.

A huge thank you to Soil-Max for giving the boat a home at their facility while we waited for the new trailer. Now that the trailer has arrived, it’s off to Jims marine before its next stop: the Wabash River. 🌊

New boathouse. New coach’s boat. More opportunities to get people on the water.

Piece by piece, we’re building something pretty exciting.

We'll continue to have open rows on select Saturday mornings throughout the fall as long as the Wabash is rowable. We'll be kicking off our Winter Indoor and Spring Water seasons after Thanksgiving. Stay tuned!

Good news…

You don’t have to be an elite athlete to give rowing a try.

It’s been a month, and we’re still thinking about this incredible achievement in rowing. 🚣‍♀️🌊

Kelsey Pfendler rowed more than 2,400 miles from California to Hawaii — solo — completing the journey in just under 44 days. In doing so, she became the first American woman to complete the mid-Pacific crossing alone breaking both the women’s AND men’s speed records for the route.

Stories like Kelsey’s are a pretty incredible reminder of just how far rowing can take you — literally and figuratively.

It's a challenge to find the right place to start when reflecting on today and all the amazing people and organizations who supported this moment.

To be a part of all the amazing momentum happening at the Wabash riverfront is humbling and inspiring. To know we don't have to just go with the flow because we can be a part of making waves of progress is something worth celebrating.
