For Jim McDavid, founder of The McDavid Group Charities, the origin of Golf for COPS begins in the summer of 2016, on a stretch of road with the radio on, listening to a widow share her story.

She was the wife of one of the five officers killed in Dallas only weeks earlier, and as she described how reality sets in, with three kids to raise, trying to rebuild a life that no longer has its foundation, Jim knew that he had found his purpose. That December, the first Golf for COPS tournament was played, what was thought to be a simple tournament would give way to more than a decade of supporting the families of fallen law enforcement.

Some venues need no introduction.

This summer, Oak Hill opens its fairways to Golf for COPS for the first time. On June 28 and 29, one of the most storied courses in American golf becomes the setting for two days dedicated to our mission, as a gathering of players, partners, and supporters embodies a purpose far beyond the scorecard.

With every dollar raised moving toward the families of fallen law enforcement officers, providing scholarships that help their children pursue the futures their parents worked so hard to give them, we're incredibly excited for this newest chapter of our story, and hope to see you there.

There may be no better way to spend a morning.

This week, it was our privilege to host over 40 law enforcement officers from Jupiter, Tequesta, and the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office for breakfast, an event that stands as an acknowledgement of the men and women who show up for our community every single day. We were honored to share the morning with Tequesta Mayor Molly Young, Honorary Chairperson Pat Fiore, Nick and Megan Menster of Protector's Prayer , and Vince Papale, whose presence reminded everyone in the room what it means to never give up on those around you.

Thank you to Wawa, Natalie's Orchid Island Juice Company, Mission BBQ, Bagel Bistro, Thin Blue Line USA, Graze Craze, and Girl Scouts of Palm Beach for their generous donations and for helping us show up for the people who show up for all of us.

For nearly a century, the East Course at Oak Hill Country Club has been the stage where golf's greatest chapters were written. From Lee Trevino's arrival to Brooks Koepka's crowning moment, the fairways of this Donald Ross masterpiece have carried the footsteps of legends.

Golf for COPS - Oak Hill is our first-ever event beyond South Florida, and there is no finer stage to bring our mission to. To walk these fairways is to walk alongside the legends of the game, and to do it in support of the families of America's fallen law enforcement officers is to add a chapter worthy of this storied history.

What an exciting day at NEVS Barbecue! We’re thrilled to share that NEVS will be featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives tonight at 9:00pm! Tommy and Kelsey Neville have been incredible partners with Golf for COPS for the past six years, and we are so grateful for their friendship and unwavering support.

Some mornings are simply about saying thank you.

On May 5th, The McDavid Group Charities will host its 2nd Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast, a morning dedicated to the men and women who protect our community every day. In the first three months of this year, 26 officers have made the ultimate sacrifice, and given their lives in the line of duty. Behind each of these portraits is a family forever changed, their lives altered in ways one could never predict, and most paramount of all, 29 children are now left without a parent.

There are no words that may ease such a burden, and no tribute that can truly capture what has been lost. Our hearts, along with our deepest condolences, are with every family who has had to carry that weight this year.

It is for them, these families and these children, that Golf for Cops continues in its mission. Through our support of organizations such as Concerns of Police Survivors, as well as the continually expanding efforts of the American Heroes Scholarship Fund, our efforts ensure that these children have the resources they need now, and the opportunity they deserve when the time comes to pursue higher education.

That promise drives everything we do, and to our donors, supporters, and all those who continue to participate in this mission, we thank you.

The inaugural Golf for COPS Legacy Event at SeaHawk Prime by David Burke was more than a first chapter.

As we reflect on what may only be described as an evening that exceeded all expectations, we are humbled by the realization that our mission truly resonates far beyond the golf course. New faces and longtime supporters filled the room side by side, an extraordinary meal was shared, stories were told, and a scholarship was awarded to a young woman whose words moved every person at every table.

When the evening came to a close, the Golf for COPS family had grown in ways that could never have been planned. Over $100,000 was raised, and the generosity, kindness, and compassion of every attendee ensured that the families of fallen law enforcement officers will never be forgotten.

To all who made this night everything that it was, thank you for believing in our mission. We are forever grateful to you, and we look forward to sharing countless more moments for years to come.
