If you’ve been out on the Narrows lately, you’ve probably noticed some big changes! 🌿 Sue Panella, our President and Co-Founder, shares where the mangrove restoration stands.

✅ Phase 1: Mangrove toe protections installed on the northern and middle islands�🚧 Phase 2: Breakwaters underway on the northernmost island

Crews are on track to finish by December 1st, and every week out here brings us a little closer to a healthier Narrows. 💙

Thank you, neighbors! 💙 Nearly 200 local donors have supported the Jupiter Narrows project so far, and that’s not including foundation gifts.

Boaters, paddlers, families, and people who just love this stretch of water have all pitched in to help restore it. Every gift, big or small, makes a difference here.

The JNCA restoration project is officially underway!

The barges have arrived, the turbidity net is in, and we're placing the limestone rocks one by one.

This is what bottom-up conservation looks like

The Andrew “Red” Harris Islands north of Cato’s Bridge have been quietly shrinking for decades. Increasing wave energy erodes the sand these islands are built on. What’s left is a fraction of what existed 20 years ago.

The Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance was formed to reverse that. We are working alongside Ocean Conservancy and are funded largely by the community that uses this water every day.

On September 8th we will mobilize to start placing limestone breakwaters and plant mangrove saplings from MANG® so the islands can rebuild themselves.

JNCA is a model for what happens when a community decides not to wait. Government agencies can’t restore everything. But neighbors, paddlers, and families can do a remarkable amount together.

🌿 INSPIRING: Jupiter mangrove islands get new life in heartfelt restoration project

Three eroded mangrove islands in Jupiter Narrows are being restored through a meaningful project that honors the memory of Andrew "Red" Harris, who was tragically killed in a boating accident in 2014.

"I remember them as a kid when they were just so lush and so beautiful. And if we don't do something now, they'll be gone," said Sue Panella of the Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance.
