It was an honor and privilege to be in DC with Ocean Conservancy, J.P. Brooker, and many conservation partners to advocate for our environment and wildlife and full funding for NOAA.

🌎 Good Earth Day news! 👏

Today, Ocean Conservancy staff headed to Capitol Hill to speak with Florida members of Congress about the vital work of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the Sunshine State. We also discussed the Endangered Species Amendment Act and the extreme dangers it would pose to Florida’s most at-risk animals, plants and habitats.

The Endangered Species Amendment Act was supposed to be voted on this afternoon, but was pulled from the House floor at the last minute.

🌱 Mangroves in progress!
Last Saturday, volunteers gathered at the MANG nursery to repot young mangroves that will eventually be planted right here in the Jupiter Narrows — once our limestone breakwaters are in place.
Every seedling moved into a larger pot is one step closer to a restored, thriving shoreline. A huge thank you to MANG and to every volunteer who showed up and got their hands dirty. 🙌

📸 Two of our neighbors — a beautiful osprey and a graceful egret — perched in the mangroves at Jupiter Narrows. They don’t know it, but the trees beneath them are dying. 💚
Mangroves are the lifeblood of this ecosystem. They shelter fish nurseries, protect our shoreline from erosion and storm surge, filter our water, and provide critical habitat for birds like these. Losing them means losing so much more.
That’s why the Jupiter Narrows Conservation Alliance is working hard to protect and restore these irreplaceable trees — but we can’t do it alone.

Come visit us today from 10-4 at Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum’s River to Reef Art Festival. We look forward to sharing our plan to save and restore the mangroves and seagrasses in the Jupiter Narrows. It’s very fitting that our booth is directly in front of the thriving mangroves along the inlet where the natural limestone breakwaters are protecting them. Come see!
