Today is Gold Star Mothers & Families Day. Warriors Renewal Coalition would like to honor the mothers and their families who have carried an unimaginable loss of a son or daughter who gave everything in service to our country. Through their strength, love, and selflessness, the legacies of their heroes continue to live on.
Today, we are especially proud to honor our very own President and Gold Star Mother, Kathi Bischoff. After the loss of her beloved son, Marine Major Samuel M. Griffith, Kathi has chosen to honor his life and legacy through service to others. Her son’s legacy lives on in every veteran welcomed, every family supported, and every life we have changed.
To Kathi, and to all Gold Star Mothers and their families, we see your sacrifice, we honor your children, and we are forever grateful for the legacy you carry forward.
We are honored to share a deeply personal and meaningful article written by Kathi's daughter, Renee, reflecting on what it means to be a Gold Star Mother.
Renee, an accomplished writer, with Til Valhalla Project (TVP) captures this perspective with honesty, compassion, and grace. By sharing this story, we hope to bring greater awareness to the experiences of families of fallen heroes, those who continue to carry their loved ones with them each and every day. This article continues to inspire the heart of our mission.

Mother’s Day can be beautiful. It can also be heartbreaking.
For Gold Star Mother Kathi Bischoff, mother of Major Samuel Griffith, USMC, the day carries both gratitude and grief. In our newest blog, she shares stories about the little boy who became a Marine, the leader so many still remember, and the reality of loving a child who is no longer here.
From childhood memories and laughter, to the pain of loss and the comfort of seeing Sam’s memorial plaque displayed in her home, her story is one that will stay with you long after you read it.
🇺🇸 “The hole in my heart remains.”
