Celebrate Our Roots: Annual Meeting & Collection Highlights 🏡 Thursday, October 15 at 6pm at our Museum, 38 Main Street, Tenants Harbor. Come celebrate and preserve the vibrant heritage of St. George! Whether you have called our town home your entire life or are a history enthusiast just discovering its unique charm, you are warmly invited to connect with neighbors and friends at our annual gathering. We will begin with a brief annual meeting to elect officers and share a heartfelt look back at the wonderful memories from our 2026 season. Immediately following, we invite you to dive into the rich stories of St. George through an exclusive showcase of our growing collection. You will get an up-close look at stunning historic photographs and rare artifacts that bring our community's past vividly to life. Come discover the moments that shape the place we call home, all while enjoying delicious complimentary snacks and beverages. We cannot wait to see you there!

Connect with the past and join your neighbors for our final gravestone cleaning workshop of the season. This is a warm, meaningful opportunity to honor our local ancestors and preserve our shared history. No prior experience is necessary, as we will provide a brief training along with all the specialized tools needed, including safe, non-toxic cleaning solutions, pump sprayers, and scrub brushes. All you need to bring are sturdy work gloves, drinking water, and bug spray. Whether you want to roll up your sleeves to help or simply stop by to say hello and see our volunteers hard at work, everyone in the community is welcome. To help us ensure we have plenty of supplies for everyone, please RSVP to Cassie at [email protected] if you plan to attend. Note to Families: We treat every monument with the utmost reverence. If you prefer that our volunteers do not clean your family members' headstones, please notify us in advance at [email protected].

On this Thursday September 24th the St George Historical Society and the Marshall Point Lighthouse Committee will present Stories from the Shore: Life as a Lighthouse Keeper. Marge Winski a keeper at Montauk and Roberta Carmichael Roberta Carmichael widow of Coast Guard Lighthouse Keeper Lewis Carmichael the keeper at Whitehead and Marshall Point will share the trials of lighthouse keepers. Discover the fascinating world of lighthouse keeping through personal, firsthand accounts. The St. George Historical Society and the Marshall Point Lighthouse & Museum Committee invite you to a special evening of living history. This special event is perfect for local neighbors, visiting travelers, and maritime history enthusiasts alike. Come hear the extraordinary firsthand accounts of those who kept the lights burning.
Marge Winski (Montauk Point Lighthouse), St. George neighbor and former Lighthouse Keeper from 1987 to 2018 offers a rare insider look into managing Long Island's iconic tower.
Roberta Carmichael (Whitehead Island & Marshall Point), widow of Coast Guard Lighthouse Keeper Lewis Carmichael (1967–1969) shares moving stories about the unique triumphs and trials of family life at a station. A live audience Q&A session follows the talks. Bring your curiosity and your appetite for local history!
Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided.
