Hey everyone, it's that time again when we gather at Seaside Cemetery to clean headstones! Saturday, June 6th (9am to 12pm). You will experience a fun day cleaning our ancestor's headstones - no skill required! We will provide the tools necessary to clean the headstones - nontoxic cleaning solution, pump sprayers, and scrub brushes - as well as brief training. You only need to bring work gloves, drinking water, and bug spray.
Please stop by and help us clean headstones or just say hello and check out our volunteers hard at work! If you plan to attend, please contact Cassie at [email protected]. Please let us know if you are coming so we have enough supplies. Please notify us at [email protected] if you do not want us to clean your family's headstone.
This year’s remaining dates: 7/11, 8/8, 9/12, and 10/10.

On May 21, 2026, at the Town Office Meeting Room, please join the St. George Historical Society as we honor the life and legacy of Eliza Jane Steele during our 2nd Annual Women in St. George program. A community potluck will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by the program at 7:00 pm.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, we invite you to learn about one remarkable woman whose dedication and compassion left a lasting impact on our region. Born in 1898, Eliza Jane Steele was a proud St. George native and the founding nurse of the Rockland District Nursing Association. For 40 years, she led the RDNA, traveling door to door to care for the health needs of residents throughout Rockland and surrounding communities.

We are honored to welcome Peta van Vuuren, St. George resident and Executive Director of RDNA, along with two distinguished guests who knew and worked alongside Eliza Steele. Together, they will share stories and reflections of a woman whose life of service touched countless lives.
